Mitt Romney, R-Utah, said he’ll support the nomination of Jeff Flake as U.S. ambassador to Turkey after meeting with Flake Tuesday. “My friend Jeff Flake is a thoughtful and accomplished public servant who will represent the United States well in a complex region of the world,” Romney said in a statement to Deseret News. “He understands the importance of standing for U.S. interests in Turkey, and I look forward to supporting his nomination when it comes before the Senate.” When his nomination was announced by the Biden administration in July, the former Republican senator...

Sen. Mitt Romney asked several interesting questions during his first question time slot at Tuesday's Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing with Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Romney asked: "Has the Taliban abandoned their sympathy and collaboration with groups such as al Qaeda and the Haqqani network... or has that relationship been severed?" Blinken replied: "The relationship has not been severed and it's a very open question as to whether their views and the relationship has changed in any kind of definitive way. I think it’s fair to say two things: one, whatever the Taliban’s views on al Qaeda, they do...

When did the GOP cease to be a functioning party? When was the exact moment that you knew the GOP establishment stands for nothing and stands against nothing? For many, this became apparent in the awful months immediately after Election Day 2020, of course, when a steady stream of GOP leaders took to the airwaves to let their voters know that “the most secure election in history” had just taken place. For others, it was the Second Impeachment of Citizen Trump — a symbolic exercise that only served to destroy the political career of Mitch McConnell, and raze his reputation...

A US drone strike in Afghanistan on Sunday killed nine members of one family, according to local reports. The casualties of the strike in the capital city of Kabul included six children, a relative told a local journalist working with CNN. The Pentagon said in a statement earlier that it was “assessing the possibilities of civilian casualties, though we have no indications at this time.” The strike followed a huge amount of bloodshed over a three-day period as the American military finishes evacuating citizens and others with papers ahead of President Joe Biden’s 31 August deadline for troop withdrawal... Sen. Mitt Romney says if Congressional Democrats and President Joe Biden are set on passing a $3.5 trillion spending bill without a single Republican vote, then Democrats should be responsible for raising the nation’s debt limit. “Right now it’s my colleagues across the aisle who are raising the spending. They should be the ones who raise the debt ceiling,” Romney said during a wide-ranging visit with The Tribune’s editorial board. The fight over the debt limit is a high-stakes game of “chicken” playing out in Congress, where Democrats have very slim majorities in both the House and Senate. The debt...

As Sen. Mitt Romney touted his federal infrastructure bill Thursday, he also took a moment to recognize the deaths of U.S. military members in suicide bombings in Afghanistan, saying it was “wrong” to withdraw troops from the country. “We were wrong, both President [Donald] Trump and President [Joe] Biden, to take our troops out of Afghanistan,” Romney said. “... A tragedy occurred today. I hope there are no more.” The Utah Republican’s remarks came shortly after Biden gave a speech vowing to retaliate for the attack. ISIS-K, an offshoot of the Islamic State group, has been blamed for the bombing....

In 2012, then-Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was pilloried by the press for his comment that 47 percent of Americans pay no income taxes. “Forty-seven percent of Americans pay no income tax,” Romney factually stated. That was then. This is now. According to a new report from the Urban Institute & Brookings Institution Tax Policy Center, “The COVID-19 pandemic and the policy response to it led to an extraordinary increase in the number of American households that owed no federal individual income tax in 2020.”

At age 74, Sen. Willard M. Romney has fallen head over heels in love. With Dementia Joe Biden. “I do trust the president,” he gushed to ratings-challenged Clinton Crime Family soldier Jake Tapper on CNN Sunday. Another quote attributed to the junior senator from the Beehive State: “I do take the president at his word.” Of course Mitt does. Last Thursday, with the slobbering Romney behind him at the White House, Biden waxed semi-coherent about the wonderful bipartisan deal on the $953-billion so-called “infrastructure” bill. Two hours later, with Romney back in his Capitol Hill office, probably tweeting out valentines...

Mitt Romney, AKA, Pierre Delecto on Sunday said Trump was also to blame for Biden’s botched Afghanistan withdrawal which led to the death of 13 US service members. “Should the US stay? Should there be a US military presence in the Kabul airport until every American citizen….is gone?” CNN “State of the Union” host Jake Tapper asked Romney. Romney immediately took the opportunity to drag Trump into the conversation.

On election night last November, Sen. Mitt Romney watched the early returns and developed "a pit in his stomach" at then-President Donald Trump's strong performance in early states, an excerpt from a forthcoming book by Washington Post reporters Carol D. Leonnig and Philip Rucker said. In fact, the numbers were "surprisingly good" for Trump, with now-President Joe Biden underperforming in Florida's Miami-Dade County, where Democratic presidential nominees need to perform strongly in order to capture the populous swing state. That night, Romney told his family that Trump would be victorious in the presidential election, the excerpt from "I Alone Can...

President Biden will host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on Aug. 30 and push him to “tackle corruption,” despite claims of corruption in Ukraine involving his own family, the White House said Wednesday. As vice president, Biden led the Obama administration’s Ukraine policy while his son Hunter Biden earned a reported $83,000 per month on the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma, despite no relevant industry experience.

I’ve been searching for just the right adjective to use for Mitt Romney. In the spirit of full disclosure, I must sadly confess that I voted for Mitt for President in 2012. At the time, even a vote for a RINO was preferable to voting for someone openly calling for the destruction of everything America stands for -- that being Barack Hussein Obama. But since 2018, Mitt has been on a divergent path from conservatism. RINOs are despised by conservatives, but the term doesn’t even come close to describing the awfulness of Mitt Romney for the movement. Is Mitt Romney...

Donald Trump’s “big lie” that he lost the 2020 US election because of voter fraud is “a bit like WWF”, Mitt Romney said on Sunday, referring to the gaudy and artificial world of professional wrestling, an arena in which Trump starred before entering politics. “It’s entertaining,” said the Utah senator and 2012 Republican presidential nominee. “But it’s not real.”

This morning Romney was on with Jake Tapper on CNN and he looked so calm as he belittled and slandered President Trump and the 75 million + who voted for the President and his agenda of putting America first. In response to the ever gloomy Jake Tapper Romney said: TRENDING: President Trump Opens a Verified Account on RUMBLE -- Picks Up 45,000 New Followers in an Hour! “I think, frankly, Jake, a growing recognition in the U.S. this is like WWF. That it’s entertaining, but it’s not real. I know people want to say, yeah, they believe in the big...

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said his optimism on a bipartisan infrastructure bill was “short-lived” following President Joe Biden’s remarks that he would consider vetoing the bill if it doesn’t include a sweeping reconciliation package. His comments came shortly after Biden endorsed the bipartisan deal to spend $1.2 trillion over eight years before stating that “If only one comes to me, this is the only one that comes to me, I’m not signing it“ McConnell accused Biden of “caving” to the far left following the bipartisan breakthrough and offering mixed messaging on the matter.

President Joe Biden on Thursday announced a bipartisan infrastructure deal with moderate senate Republicans and Democrats after meeting with them briefly at the White House. “We had a really good meeting and to answer your direct question, we have a deal,” Biden announced, standing with the group of senators Biden met briefly with the group to seal his support for the deal after the White House announced a framework deal for a bipartisan agreement Wednesday evening. The president celebrated the bipartisan nature of the deal, even though he said it was not all of the proposed spending that he asked...

President Joe Biden said Thursday he would not sign a bipartisan infrastructure deal with moderate Republican senators without an additional partisan funding package for entitlements. “I control that. If they don’t come, I’m not signing it. Real simple,” Biden said, when reporters asked how he planned to get both measures through Congress at the same time.
