The casino magnate and big Gingrich booster in 2012 may have his eyes on a new candidate in 2016. Billionaire casino magnate Sheldon Adelson and his wife Miriam spent an astonishing $98 million trying to elect conservative candidates during the 2012 election cycle. The Adelsons threw more than a fifth of that total at Winning our Future, a super PAC supporting GOP presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich. We all know how Gingrich’s primary campaign against Mitt Romney turned out, but the Adelsons’ contributions kept Gingrich’s campaign afloat far longer than the former House Speaker would otherwise have survived. With potential candidates...

Mike Huckabee is leading the Republican presidential race in Iowa. And not by just a point or two: in a new CNN survey, the former Arkansas governor, winner of the 2008 Iowa caucuses, is at 21 percent, with his closest GOP pursuer, Rep. Paul Ryan, nine points behind. Rand Paul is 14 points back, Chris Christie and Jeb Bush 15 behind. Few frontrunners choose not to run. And when Huckabee, not yet a candidate and officially undecided, invited a group of reporters to meet with him at a hotel outside Washington Monday, he certainly looked like a man preparing to...

One poll showing him ahead is a fluke. Two polls showing him ahead? We call that “momentum.”I’m not in the habit of making pledges, but I promise you this: I will never, ever tire of trolling you guys with numbers showing Huck as some sort of contender for the nomination. Ever. Fourteen percent of Republicans and independents who lean toward the GOP say they would likely support Huckabee for their party’s nomination if he runs.Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky is next at 13% followed by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Christie tied at 10%…That’s a change from November, when...

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who made headlines last week after Democrats jumped on a comment he made about their treatment of women, is the new 2016 favorite of Republican primary voters, according to a new poll out Wednesday. Huckabee leads the primary field with 16 percent of the vote in Public Policy Polling’s new national poll, up three points from PPP’s poll last month. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is also on the rise: he jumped to second place with 14 percent, up from 10 percent last month. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who was the frontrunner in December...

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a 2008 GOP presidential candidate turned media personality, is looking at another bid for the presidency, this time backed by ministers eager to put an evangelical into the White House. Huckabee will test the waters when he returns home to Little Rock, Ark., December 12-13 to address the Arkansas Renewal Project, part of evangelical organizer David Lane's American Renewal Project. Huckabee had the support of pastors in his 2008 fight against eventual winner Sen. John McCain. Among the potential candidates looking at a GOP bid, Huckabee is closest to the pastors. He is a social...

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has revealed to Newsmax that he is looking at a possible bid for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016. Asked in a Newsmax TV interview if he is considering another White House run, Huckabee declares: “Yeah, I’m not ruling it out at this point. “I’m not sitting around having meetings with the strategic team, but it’s something I will certainly look at and I’m talking to some people just to determine whether it’s a kamikaze raid or whether it has potential and possibility.” Huckabee, who was governor of Arkansas for more than a decade up...
