One of those however would be an atheist artist lecturing Christians in service of his political master’s dogma. Shepard Fairey barely deserves the title of artist. He’s the hack who designed the Obama “Hope” poster that helped usher in the Age of Obama. Fairey received two years’ probation and a $25,000 fine for contempt of court in a lawsuit related to that poster, which he based on a copyrighted Associated Press photo. NORTH HAVEN — The Marlin Firearms Co., one of the town’s top taxpayers, will start to lay off employees in May and will close by June 2011. The gun manufacturer’s employees were told Thursday that the jobs of 265 salaried and hourly workers would be eliminated over 18 months. Marlin traces its history back to 1870. Marlin officials could not be reached for comment, but First Selectman Michael J. Freda heard the news from a company official Thursday evening. Freda said several factors appear to be driving the closure, from the cost of doing business in Connecticut to wage differentials.

Immigrant rights groups blasted President Obama on Wednesday for breaking what they called his "personal commitment" to change Bush-era immigration raids after U.S. authorities raided an engine machine shop in Washington state and detained illegal immigrants. The Obama administration itself seemed taken aback by the raid by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, with Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano vowing to Congress that she would "get to the bottom of this."
