Actually I do think firefighters ha the obligation to help.
If he/she refused to do so, it should be a dereliction of duty.

Actually it should be “wo hen gao xin” instead of “wo hun gao xin”, while hen is the pinyin of 很。 Personally I am a little curious about the issue “ is a teacher obligated to help the children in emergency?” In China it is stated in law that officials and teachers are responsible to help children: “School officials and teachers should act properly to protect the children and report to the authority when students’ life or safety are threatened “ from “Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Protection of Minors” I am interested that is there similar laws in the U.S. Personally I felt that teachers do have the obligation to protect the children.

I am not trying to convince you that Chinese gov is your friend, and I never will. When it comes to politics, I believe that there would be no friends, at least no real friends.

However, It’s a pity that you get a totally wrong impression about Chinese. I sincerely hope that you can learn more about China, and it would not be hard in this information era.

As for that warthing, it’s really inappropriate to discuss it under this thread. PEOPLE ARE LOSING LIVES! It’s just a time for human beings to human beings.

Let’s pray for those who suffered.

    That’s a little ridiculous....
I can’t see why Chinese gov would want Chinese to think Americans are devils. And for most of them who live in Wenchuan, they got the impression of Americans from Hollywood’s movies.

That earthquark( so-called Tangshan earthquake) did not hit the same region. Tanshan is in the northeast of China, but Wenchuan is in the southwest, which also has a much lower density of population.

The situation is much worse than I thought.
Tens of southands are suffering. I can not help being crying.
However, we are trying our best. My school start raising money in the midnight of yesterday. The soldiers are trying to get there at any cost ( by helicopter, by boat, or even on foot. all of these ways extremely dangerous).
I appreciate your concerns and thank you all for the help as a Chinese student. Let’s pray for those who are killed or injuried.

Yes, that’s the problem. And yes, it is disgusting to mix religion with politics.
But anyway, praying is absolutely legal....

Christianism is legal in China. Many of my classmates believe in it and we may take courses about Christianism.
However, I am not a Christian. I used the word “prey” in an un-religious sense, and I hope it’s not inappropriate.

Actually I myself is a little surprised that FR is not banned by GFW. But even if it is banned, it’s not difficult to do some tricks and get access to this site.
Anyway, I don’t see the point of arguing I am an agent or not.
Thank you all and I appreciate your concerns of this disaster.
    My parents are OK.
Let’s pray for those who suffered.

I see you know little about China's internet restriction..... Please, find anyone who knows Chinese and is not an agent by your judgement, then google "Taiwan" in Chinese( which would be 台湾). You will see how many Chinese have expressed their opinions, though most of which are stupid, I think. And I don't have unrestricted internet access. To think I am unmonitored just because I can post "Taiwan"? So naive....

It seems that you would accuse me as an agent no matter what I said, but I am gonna say this once: I am a student in Peking Univ, China. I am no agent of any office.
I personally do not agree with taking Taiwan. From my observation, Chinese government would be satisfied with keeping a not bad relationship with Taiwan in recent years instead of taking it, considering that Ma is now the president of Taiwan. As for nuclear exchange——do you think Chinese are crazy and stupid?

    Thank you.
But I know little about this disaster either.
What I know is also from the media, the telephone system barely works, and I am still trying to get my family( I am now in Beijing).
According to Xinhua( China's State Media), the death in Beichuan( a county in Sichuan )may reach 3000-5000. I think the situation in Wenchuan would be even more sesious. However, the main road to Wenchuan has been blocked by debris flow.
A wall collapsed in my mother school and two students were killed in Mianyang. Several school's teaching building has also collapsed and more than ten students were killed, not to mention those 900 who are still trapped.
    Let's just cross our hands.

900 is not a credible number....
CNN and NY times both said that it's quoted from China's domestic meida, however I do see this number in any domestic media.
From what doemstic media reported, there are 1700 students in that school but how many got stucked is not clear yet

The point is that middle school’s teaching building collapsed-—and probably because of the indifference of the quality of this building, since it seems that this is the only building collapsed in the nearby.

I am a Chinese and according to my parents who are now in Chengdu, the center of the earthquake is rather a romote region.
There are no serious injuries and death in Chengdu. Some buildings did collapse but few ones got injuried. The situation is more serious in the countryside, where some houses are still builed by clay and wood.
The center of the earthquakr is in Wenchuan, a small town whose population is about 110,000, including the people live in the countryside nearby. However, the situation is not clear because the electronic communication has been destroyed. Let’s hope for the best.
