A Chicago-area furniture store, LeatherCreations, took out a quarter-page ad in the Chicago Tribune on Thursday. While that in itself isn't the slightest bit peculiar, even amidst the decline of ad sales in the newspaper industry, the unique marketing angle they took captured attention. "We sell more seats than the Governor! ... and our Senate seat only costs $1,999 (Plus this sofa lasts much longer than 6 years)." Hey, maybe Rod Blagojevich has some career prospects after all, a post-politics career in endorsements!

South Carolina's governor says more debt isn't the answer. I find myself in a lonely position. While many states and local governments are lining up for a bailout from Congress, I went to Washington recently to oppose such bailouts. I may be the only governor to do so.

MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina (CNN) – South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint on Friday became one of the first high-profile Republicans to publicly criticize John McCain following his electoral defeat, blaming the Arizona senator for betraying conservative principles in his quest for the White House.

The great oil shock of 2008 is bad enough for us. It poses a mortal threat to the whole economic strategy of emerging Asia. The manufacturing revolution of China and her satellites has been built on cheap transport over the past decade. At a stroke, the trade model looks obsolete.

The campaign of 2008 started on July 1 when Obama launched his first national advertising buy of the season. How McCain responds and whether or not he does, will have a big impact in determining whether Obama can solidify or expand his current lead in the polls. As always, the media fails to cover the significant events of the campaign -- but this is one of the most critical.

Saturday, June 07, 2008 Who in the hell is behind $5 gas? John Hinderaker explains: For several decades, the Democratic Party has pursued policies designed to drive up the cost of petroleum, and therefore gas at the pump. Remarkably, the Democrats don't seem to have taken much of a political hit from the current spike in gas prices. Probably that's because most people don't realize how different the two parties' energy policies have been.

The Global Warming Movement’s Tactical Mistake Exposes Its True Motive$ Before you ask people to commit economic suicide, you best have your predictions coming true and not falling apart as reality overturns all your assumptions and claims. The WSJ notes today how badly the Church of Al Gore played their hand in trying to ram through Congress useless farces on Climate Control: "But it would appear the political consensus on global warming was as exaggerated as the alleged scientific consensus. “With gasoline selling at $4 a gallon, the Democrats picked the worst possible time to bring up cap and trade,”...

Posted on May. 21, 2008 By Robert BryceLet’s Sue OPEC! That’ll Teach ‘Em! When it comes to energy policy, Congress goes from dumb to dumber. The latest example: a bill passed by the House of Representatives on May 20 that will allow the U.S. government to sue OPEC for conspiring to raise prices. There are several reasons why the bill, which passed by a margin of 324 to 84, makes no sense. I’ll focus on two: reciprocity and hypocrisy. First, reciprocity. If the U.S. can demand that foreign oil producers increase their output, what’s to stop them from demanding that...

Liberals - VS- Troops In Quotes . Liberals Vs. The Troops In Quotes In honor of Tom Harkin's latest moronic comments about John McCain not being a good candidate for President because he spent too much time in the military, I present to you, "Liberals Vs. The Troops In Quotes." Enjoy the Left-Wing version of "supporting the troops!" Quote:"...This NBC report is just an ugly reminder of the price we pay for a mercenary - oops sorry, volunteer - force that thinks it is doing the dirty work." -- Washington Post blogger, William Arkin Quote:"Through every Abu aib and Haditha,...

Is $120 oil even real? Not if you ask the Saudis, or even Lehman Bros. The investment bank’s oil expert said this week that the oil boom is due to bust. Economic growth across the globe will slow just as new refineries kick in, raising supply.

December 14, 2007A real Whopper from the New York Times Ed Lasky Today's New York Time runs an editorial that defies belief and makes clear that the paper lives in a different moral universe where it remains blind to its own flaws. In "Notes from the Global War in Terror" the paper condemns President Bush for:the damage President Bush has done to America’s intelligence-gathering capabilities in the name of fighting terrorism. This comes from the paper that has led the way in eviscerating our intelligence capabilities to thwart terror. The paper has disclosed a secret program (the "SWIFT" program) to...

June Talking Points For Citizen Spooks In yesterday's report I was perhaps guilty of cramming too much information into one essay. After seeing the various arguments floating around discussion forums, I noticed that the trolls are trying to focus attention away from the most important aspects of this report. So I'm putting up two talking points today which, if argued properly, will expose trolls from the wrong side of the tracks. CS talking point # 1. Fitzgerald and Samborn have done an about face. In October 2005, after the Libby indictment was announced both Fitz and Samborn unequivocally stated that...

U.S. repeals Byrd Amendment Thomas Russell -- Furniture Today, 2/14/2006 7:13:00 AM Import duties collected after September 2007 will go to government WASHINGTON — The U.S. government has repealed the Byrd Amendment, the controversial trade law that is allowing some U.S. furniture manufacturers to collect millions of dollars in import duties. Congress repealed the amendment as part of a budget bill, which President Bush signed into law on Feb. 8. The move will eliminate the payment of antidumping duties beyond Oct. 1, 2007, to U.S. manufacturers that petitioned for a federal investigation into the alleged dumping of Chinese-made wood bedroom...

A New Low for the MSM? The mainstream media's handling of Hurricane Katrina and the disasters in New Orleans is a disgrace, possibly the worst instance yet of media bias. Insane claims by left-wing nuts that President Bush botched the recovery effort on purpose so as to kill black people are repeated by the MSM in a chin-stroking mode, as if to say, "It's an interesting question--they might be on to something." Meanwhile, no one points out that it was President Bush who implored Governor Blanco to issue a first-ever mandatory evacuation order for the city, an action by the...

In the Capitol basement yesterday, long-suffering House Democrats took a trip to the land of make-believe. They pretended a small conference room was the Judiciary Committee hearing room, draping white linens over folding tables to make them look like witness tables and bringing in cardboard name tags and extra flags to make the whole thing look official. Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) banged a large wooden gavel and got the other lawmakers to call him "Mr. Chairman." He liked that so much that he started calling himself "the chairman" and spouted other chairmanly phrases, such as "unanimous consent" and "without...
