A male/1 in full uniform walks into the 3rd district desk and tells them he is from 005 and was sent there to work a traffic car. They get him a locker to use and call in the traffic car. He signs out a radio and jumps in...

NEW YORK (AP) - Don't look for any flatulent horses or impotence cures during commercial breaks at the Academy Awards. The motion picture academy has an unusual hands-on policy to monitor advertising during the Oscars, approving each commercial and enforcing a strict set of rules regarding what can be shown. It will be nothing like the raucous Super Bowl free-for-all. "We want the show to reflect, not a stuffiness, but a dignity appropriate for film's highest honor," said Ric Robertson, executive administrator for the motion picture academy. "We want it to be a family affair that can be appreciated by...

WASHINGTON -- Mayor Richard M. Daley is in Washington until Friday fighting legislation that would limit Chicago's right to sue gun makers. NBC5's Dick Kay reported that Congress is about to approve protection for the gun industry that no other industry in America has: a ban on lawsuits against the gun makers. Chicago and Gary have sued gun manufacturers for hundreds of millions of dollars, claiming the manufacturers know that guns they distribute to certain dealers will be sold to criminals. In Washington Wednesday, Daley and Gary Mayor Scott King appealed to Congress to reject the proposed ban on lawsuits....

Three dozen mortar shells uncovered in Iraq earlier this month had no chemical agents, the Danish army says. It is not clear why initial tests first showed they could contain blister gas, the Danish army said in a statement carried by the AP news agency. The 36 shells were found in southern Iraq buried among building equipment, even though they appeared to have been abandoned for at least 10 years. The US-UK coalition launched the war in Iraq over arms banned by the UN.

There was a time in the recent near past that all one needed to do to bilk a church or Christian organization was to say "praise the Lord, the Lord told me ..." or "the Lord has revealed to me ..." Those words, or any combination thereof, were enough to get the snake charmer the keys to the treasury. And many a church's treasury has been pillaged through the use of such cunning. But stealing the church's money and attempting to steal the very souls of the congregants through subversion of the truth and distortion of facts is heretical. Yet...

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: A new Al-Qaeda-style message has been posted on an Islamic website threatening imminent attacks on the United States, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), who translated the posting. The Emergency Response and Research Institute (ERRI) has assessed the translation of the message and believes that despite the generic nature of the claims, it was likely to be authentic and from an Al-Qaeda operative...or someone knowledgeable in Islm and very sympathetic to the cause of the bin-Laden inspired network. However, according to ERRI, it appeared to be a general "call-to-arms" rather than an action message containing...

JERUSALEM (AP) -- An Israeli archaeologist has found what he says are the oldest remains of a leprosy victim to be uncovered in the Middle East, buried in a biblical valley whose name became a synonym for Hell. Shimon Gibson of Jerusalem's Albright Institute of Archaeological Research discovered the 2,000-year-old remains of a man in a niche in a family burial cave in the city's Hinnom Valley. Gibson said that until now the oldest archaeological findings of leprosy, known in medical terms as Hansen's Disease, were from the Byzantine period, around the fifth century A.D.
