Right now I am avoiding ANY news coverage or commentary. I remember Floyd and all the other “clear to all” garbage just to see most if not all discredited.

I just don't know. What I do know is the internet is full to overflowing with opinions from very comfortable people all who think they have it all figured out. Passing judgment on a situation that apparently took less that 2 seconds to transpire.

I will only say this, and this is my feeling/opinion. I live in one of the most permissive States in the Union when it comes to firearms for defense, and I would not have taken that shot. Fact is, I have been trained to not take that shot.

In the third volume of his Civil War trilogy, Bruce Catton relates a story about a Brigade Commander upon hearing unusual screams coming from his firing line, rode forward to investigate.

He found a soldier tied spread eagle between two saplings in full view of the Confederate Infantry while his own engaged companies where drawn up nearby.

He was informed by the unit Commander that the unfortunate soldier had a bad habit of finding a stretcher to bear, a wagon to drive, or ammunition to carry forward every time there was hot work to be done on the firing line.

This was the solution his comrades devised to correct the situation.

Satisfied, the Brigade Commander rode on.

I'm not in a position right now to make a proper direct quote however, I believe that B.H. Liddel Hardt made a statement that expressed the idea that a truly Strong country with strong leadership can and will withdraw from a conflict once it calculates success is not worth the price.

It is the weak government that stays in a useless fight because it lacks the nerve to back down.

I expect these first 1,500 troops will be trained Military Law Enforcement (MP's). Hence the lower numbers. Bad idea to send in the trained killers in the first deployment.
