  • First woman leader of Episcopal Church (supports ordaining gays, blessing same-sex couples)

I hear you, went to Christ Church Cathedral in Ky on leave, ran smack into the woman (my buddies long lost Mom he has not heard from in years) who abandoned her kids in the 80's and was declared an unfit mother. Just wanted to lead a flock, as long as they weren't her kids! She is now Reverend Miskelley. On her way to bigger and better things than raising her two little boys, rewrote history I guess. Claims the X took them from her, sympathy factor seems to get you in Priest's robes. Seems like the Episcopal Church could care less who wears the robes. It had a bad affect on me to say the least. I just could not believe the hypocrisy.

Lets hope Kentucky soon follows, doubt it though, Lexington is liberal and getting so left they now have a reverand who abandoned her children in the 1980's and comes back in the last year as a Reverand at Christ Church Cathedral claiming the church has to do something about the poverty in that state! Stating that children are suffering. Too bad she never came out of her "Dead beat Mom" role and helped her own two boys she turned her back on.

Congrats, I too have walked the path to the Catholic Church, The ECUSA is not for me. Not when they allow women who have abandoned their children as the new priest at Christ Church Cathedral, in Kentucky did several years ago, to become a priest. I may sound like sour grapes but this woman ruined lives and now is counseling converts to the Episcopal religion. Her sons have not seen her in over 15 years...... How sad.

As a soldier about to retire after serving my country for 27 years, I salute you.
When you go to church now, you hear about how BAD our Commander in Chief is, how horrible the soldiers are in Iraq. I have found this true in the Episcopal Church lately.
The soldiers need God, we (our country) have lost two boys this week by torture and death....what do we have to turn to if there is nothing to believe in but a liberal version of God and Jesus? When you are under fire, you don't call out for some washed down version of God...

    Recon, that is so cool!
I have been searching for a church that is like that.
I went to church with my brother when I was on leave in Lexington KY.
He took me to Christ Church Cathedral in Lexington, it is Episcopal.
I cannot express to you my shock when I saw the Reverend (Priest Associate) all decked out in robes and all walking down the isle. I knew I had seen her some place.
She is the deadbeat mom of my friend back home that he has not seen or heard from in over 12 years man!
She resurfaces years later with a much younger lawyer husband and has rewritten history. No looking back after she left her first family, no help with anything, you know, school clothes, medical , anything like that, yet here she is on her way to becoming a priest?
Don't they serve communion and all that? I don't get it.
I thought you had to make restitution and be honest with your bishops and to those you have wronged.
I don't know man, it really left me wondering what the _---- is going on with religion these days!

Your relationship with God should be as a child to a parent, right?
Isn't the relationship the whole thing, without it you can't hear his voice.

    What is worse?
Being Gay or becoming a female Priest Associate after you abandon your children? What is worse? Being Gay or a dead beat Mom who rewrote history?
If you can turn you back on your two kids and resurface years later in Lexington Ky in a Cathedral, decked out in robes, married to a much younger lawyer and adopt a little girl, then what is worse?
If all the Bishops can cover for their clergy like this, we are all doomed.

The Episcopal church is not for me.
Christ Church Cathedral in Lexington Ky is a nice Episcopal church.
I enjoyed it until I saw the new Priest associate who happens to be the long lost mother of my buddy.A true dead beat mom who never did anything for him and his brother.
If you can turn your back on your children, rewrite history and resurface years later with a much younger husband and your bishop approves it, covering for you, then maybe it is evil.

Abused children don't always grow up to abuse others. But there are the few that do.
It is indeed true that we tend to blame others. If you are not aware you have problems and think it is the norm, then that is another story. Someone has to point it out to you.
The focus seems to be on gay clergy, what about deadbeat Mom's as clergy in the Episcopal church?
When a deadbeat mom is lifted to the Priest Associate position in a KY cathedral, you gotta ask, which is worse, openly gay and honest about it or a woman who abandoned her first family, a fine example to put out there for all young folks. Yes, this is an age of no guilt.

I am a seeker, no religion really, but searching.
Being in the military I have come across many things, and I have to ask you, what is the big deal about a gay priest, I mean he is honest about it at least. He is not trying to hide it.
I am not liberal or right wing, just me.
I was on leave and went home to visit my brother recently in Lexington, KY.
I went to his church and ran smack right into a new Reverend of the Episcopal church who happened to be the long lost mother of one of my best buddies back home.
Him and his brother have not seen her in years or had any contact after she left them and their Dad to become a career student on the governments dime of course. Now she is a priest associate.
The church was beautiful, more of a cathedral type, nice people and all, but it turned my stomach to see her marching around in robes and married now to a much younger lawyer. This woman never helped her sons with their education, food, clothes, support, nothing, and she is a Reverand? Don't people do back ground checks on clergy? This person is going to be counseling married folks and teens....yet she abandoned her two small sons years ago. I never told my buddy I saw her, he has a sweet stepmother that he calls "Mom. I did not want to hurt him.
The way I see it, at least the gay priest is being honest, this woman rewrote her history and is on her way to becoming a priest, I think that is even sadder!
I am looking at the Catholic church now, Episcopal? No way!
