WILLIAMSPORT – The Lycoming County coroner is accusing the state Health Department of “Monday morning quarterbacking deaths” in connection with the coronavirus. Charles E. Kiessling Jr., who also is president of the Pennsylvania State Coroners Association, voiced his opinion Tuesday when asked if he had any information on the two COVID-19 deaths in the county as reported by the Health Department. Kiessling said that he "was shocked upon learning there were two deaths” because none has been reported to him. He checked with the hospitals in the county and previously asked nursing homes to notify him of any deaths, he...

PROSPECT PARK, Pa. (WPVI) -- Tracie Hoffecker's backyard in Prospect Park, Delaware County felt like a zoo Sunday morning when she found an alligator. "Never in a million years did I think I would find that this morning!" said Hoffecker. "I immediately called my cousin." Her cousin, a Philadelphia firefighter, arrived and called friends to help. Then with an audience, the capture played out like a show on Animal Planet. The approximately two-to-three-foot gator was surprisingly calm. Hoffecker, an animal lover, put the best interests of the gator first and called a rescue organization. The Slimy, Scaly, Taily Reptile Rescue...

Democrats in Congress have a new and somewhat surprising tool at their disposal in the era of one-party Republican rule in President Trump’s Washington: power. It turns out that Republicans need the minority party to help them avoid a government shutdown at the end of April, when the current spending deal to fund the government expires. And Democrats have decided, for now at least, that they will use their leverage to reassert themselves and ensure the continued funding of their top priorities — by negotiating with Republicans.

This is an update article about a violin my childhood friend stole from his teacher. it's wapo and totenbergs but geoff has done a nice job reporting this story. NEW YORK — No two Strads are alike, they say, but the violin that Mira Wang reintroduced to the world Monday night is truly special. It was gone for decades, stolen after a concert in 1980, and its owner, Roman Totenberg, died in 2012 thinking it would never be seen again.

Highmark Inc. is canceling individual health plans in more than half of the Pennsylvania counties in which it has sold the plans on the Affordable Care Act's marketplace, reducing the competition that some experts say is necessary to make the market sustainable. The Pittsburgh-based insurer is no longer selling the plans in 27 of the 49 counties in which it sold them for 2016, according to a Tribune-Review analysis of federal marketplace data. About 70 percent of the insurer's individual marketplace members in Pennsylvania will lose their plans, according to a Highmark spokesman. The plans expire at the end of...
