Hydrogen Powered Cars! Yes, When the Lasts Drops of Crude Are Gone! John R Jamieson MIT67, NASA67-94 retired It seems like a great idea at first glance. Hydrogen is one of the most abundant elements on earth and burns very cleanly. It contains more energy per pound than any other fuel. At second glance, things are a little less encouraging. Most of the hydrogen on earth is already burned! The oceans are the ashes of billions of years of hydrogen fires. The hydrogen is tightly bound to oxygen atoms and must be separated from those atoms before it can be ...

DETROIT -- The Bush administration launched a partnership today with domestic automakers to spur the growth of hydrogen fuel cells for the next generation of cars and trucks, hoping to reduce the country's dependence on foreign oil while reducing tailpipe pollution. The new program, called Freedom Cooperative Automotive Research, will also focus on developing a hydrogen refueling infrastructure, Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham said. "The long-term results of this cooperative effort will be cars and trucks that are more efficient, cheaper to operate, pollution-free and competitive in the showroom," Abraham said at the North American International Auto Show. The government hopes ...

THE JAPANESE AUTOMAKER, in the final stages of picking a name for the third brand, will adopt an Internet sales plan similar to the one used for the Prius hybrid, which can only be ordered over the Internet, said Jim Press, chief operating officer of Toyota’s U.S. sales unit. Since the Prius went on sale in the summer last year, all orders for the vehicle have been placed over Toyota’s Web site. Buyers then completed the order and took final delivery of the Prius at a Toyota dealership. Sales of the Prius have outstripped supply. “It’s been a great model,” ...

In Oklahoma summer without air conditioning would be miserable for most. But that cool, comfortable air also blows in higher utility and maintenance bills that may make a home-owner hot even in the cool. John Kidwell believes that his invention -- the Kelix -- is the cold blowing, energy-efficient answer to those problems. He has developed an air conditioning unit that works without a compressor. By doing so he has basically eliminated 90 percent of the working parts in an air conditioning unit and potentially cut cooling costs in half, he says. While his prototype looks a little rough, it ...

OSAMA bin Laden has ordered the WIVES of his cornered al-Qa'ida fanatics to fight Allied forces. He told his henchmen to give guns to their burqa-clad women as a massive offensive was yesterday launched against his mountain hideout. The terror chief's desperation was revealed when anti-Taliban tribesmen intercepted his radio messages. Saudi-born bin Laden — called "the Sheik" by his fighters — was last night reported to have fled the Tora Bora caves for another network in the same eastern Afghanistan mountains. Before he crept out, one of his chiefs was heard to transmit: "The Sheik says keep your children ...
  • AOL is Too Expensive

I've trying to find a replacement for AOL for over a year. $23.95 is too darn much. I live in a rural area without much ISP availablity. I found the solution last night. Walmart Connect is part of the AOL, Compuserve, family. Uses the same phone numbers, AOL IM, etc. and cost $9.94 for unlimited service a month, first month trial free. It works great, FR even knew who I was, although I had to change screen names. Biggest hasel is copying over favorites and buddy lists and sending everone new email address.

I don't believe I've ever seen a discussion of the architecture of the World Trade Center. From a distance, the WTC looks like two simple towers, but up close, at street level, I think it looked kind of Islamic. I was struct by how much even the ruins of the facade looked like scenes of recent architecural elements shown on TV, in Pakistan. bin Laden hates us for many reasons, but did he have extra hate for this building? See link for photo.

HON. WM. S. BROOMFIELD in the House of Representatives TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 1990 Mr. BROOMFIELD. Mr. Speaker, as the world still reels from the shock of Saddam Hussein's brutal invasion of Kuwait, recently released information about the ruthless Iraqi dictator troubles me. The Iraqi madman who hides behind female hostages and gasses his own citizens has secretly built new ties with world terrorists. New reports reveal that in the past few months, the Iraqi leader has built a network of old and new terrorist allies who could be called upon to conduct terrorist operations against American interests. Among Saddam's new ...

First of all, let me say that I believe that a major terrorist attack similar in scope to the NY and DC attacks of 9/11 are very unlikely. I think the terrorists are on the run and that we as a nation are doing just about everything we can to crush them. That said, I think there is very reason to be extremely careful in your planning for this Thanksgiving. The US Thanksgiving this year is on November 22 (4th Thursday of November). Virtually every attack from these terrorists has come on a Gulf War date, important to them. The ...

EgyptAir pilot suspended after seeking asylum By Salah Nasrawi The Associated Press February 6, 2000 1:13 PM EST CAIRO, Egypt (AP) -- EgyptAir said Sunday it has suspended a pilot who is seeking asylum in Britain and reportedly claiming to possess information about the airline's fatal crash last year. Hamdi Hanafi Taha was suspended as of Friday -- the day he flew a plane to London's Heathrow Airport and asked for asylum -- for failing to follow procedures, said the airline's head of operations, Capt. Hassan Misharfa. Taha faces dismissal under Egyptian labor law if he does not report to ...

There seems be some good circumstantial evidence that the attacks on DC and NY were initially planed for August 22, 2001. All of the following comes from FR posts or web searches, I just wanted to put it together so we could talk about it. Consider that: A website was registered called august22terror.com (and a couple of similar ones) some time ago. Put Options on Boeing, AA, UA, peaked right before 9/11, but they peaked even higher in late August (around the 22th, I couldn’t read the exact date from the chart). Bin Ladin first declared war on the United ...

US Constitution ^ | 9/19/2001 | Tom Jefferson, John Jamieson, et al
I couldn’t sleep so I read the Constitution. The word citizen doesn’t seem to appear in it, just the people. I think it’s clear however that the Constitution applies to the people of the United States: it’s citizens. It’s also clear that no one can take away those rights under the Constitution without an amendment to the Constitution. Some rights might be temporarily suspended by an act of war, which we have not declared. The Constitution does not protect aliens and certainly not illegal aliens. I think that virtually all of the insane terrorists that attacked the US on ...

America's new B2 Stealth Bomber will be one of the first jets in action because of its virtual invisibility on enemy radar. The sinister-looking bat-shaped craft is vital to the attack on bin Laden's cave bunker complex at Nangarhar, north of the Khyber Pass. The B2 carries state-of-the art GBU28 "bunker buster" bombs. US Air Force pilots can launch the GBU28 bombs from as far away as 18 miles from their target, then glide them home with pinpoint accuracy. When a bomb hits it uses a penetrating warhead to blast its way through rock, concrete and earth into the enemy ...

The Sacramento Bee newspaper has published 2 articles on a burning body found in a Dunpster near the railroad tracks in an industrial area of Sacramento on 6/29. The description matches what we know about Chandra perfectly. I have called the Coroner's office twice and they say that Chandra has not been ruled in or out.

This is the funniest piece of video I've ever seen. It appears to be a commercial for a Canadian Salmon Packer. It gets even better the more times you watch it. Big file, about 9 megs, so dial-ups should allow for about a 40 minute download. Start the download and go do something else for a while. Enjoy.
