MOAB — A California man who was originally charged with aggravated human smuggling after a deadly crash on I-70 in Utah has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor. Elvis J. Quintanilla-Vasquez, his left hand still bandaged from the loss of several fingers in the May 16 crash, pleaded guilty Tuesday in 7th District Court to one count of negligent homicide, a class A misdemeanor. SALT LAKE CITY -- A bill that's currently awaiting Gov. Gary Herbert's signature would allow Rocky Mountain Power to automatically enroll customers in its Cool Keeper program. BEAVER -- The Beaver County Sheriff's Office has arrested three men suspected in a series of burglaries. According to the Spectrum, deputies said Luis M. Lopez, Andy F. Lopez, and Oren T. Hounchell admitted to varying levels of involvement in a series of break-ins at homes, stores and the Beaver City Library. They were also found in possession of an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. All three face multiple burglary and drug charges. SALT LAKE CITY -- People in Utah's 2nd Congressional District won't be seeing any town hall meetings on health care during the August break. Congressman Jim Matheson's spokeswoman Allison Heyrend said the congressman has opted instead to continue to use a telephone town-meeting approach. She said they've had five such meetings since the first of the year. "We had about 46,000 Utahns participate, and I would say 90 percent of the questions and the discussion was about health care," she said. I am interested in buying a hand gun and getting a concealed carry permit. I am in Salt Lake City. I haven't settled on a particular gun, yet, and would like to find a range where I can rent/borrow a few and test fire them. I'd appreciate any info about good (local) places that have this kind of service. Also, any suggestions as to where to go to get CCW training and gun safety/maintenance classes would be helpful.
