This is so very much needed in our churches today, where so much premium is placed on experience rather than knowledge. The more we grasp and the more we are reminded of the truth of the Gospel and the objective reality of our justification, the stronger we remain even in the weakness of our dark days where the struggles against our latent sinfulness threaten to plunge us into despair. It's in those tough moments when we don't "feel saved" that we can lay hold of the promise and the reality that "it depends not on him who wills nor him who runs, but on God who shows mercy."
