Not to defend the UFO claims, but he did explain why he couldn't save the pictures. Since he was using remote desktop, images/icons/bars don't load individually... the entire screen streams and the only way to save the stream is using by either video capture device or by using the screen shot tool. Pain in the ass... and back then it must be really hard. If I were him, and he is telling the truth, then I would do the screen shot at least.

I do remote desktop all the time and trust me, it is very frustating even with a broadband connection. In fact, today I almost lost a database backup file while transferring it from one computer to another.

Lets face the facts. Drop outs(high school drop outs, especially) are screwed regardless of what you think of formalized education. They can't get a real career-oriented job, unless they become entrepreneurs(success rate is 10% at best for MBA grads, so it must be very low for grade school dropouts who venture independently).

A successful grade school drop out is as rare as a jackpot winner. Even then, all lottery ticket buyers have equal chance of winning... but drop outs are always at disadvantage.

You must be exceptionally talented to not require a formal education to suceed in the modern world. For NORMAL people with average intelligence, things learned in the formal education setting can never be replicated by self study.

If everybody drop out of formal education at the age of 15, then the vast majority of the dropouts won't be becoming Bill Gates, but custodians of their former high schools.

Well, whether or not she was "exceptional" in her speech, she got big applause/laughter/reaction from both graduating students and the parents in the stadium. And you could see why she is worth millions.

I couldn't compare it to other commencement ceremonies, since this is the first time I attended one.

I was at Katie Curic's commencement speech(my graduation) and nothing was out of the line or political. Her speech was good and inspiring(especially to journalism majors) and if people didn't know she was a liberal anchor, nothing in that speech suggested she was.

And she referred to President Bush once, not to criticize him, but to reiterate a point he made at OSU -- the Internet is making the communication with people outside of the country easier, but making yourself distant from own neighbor.

Unlike supporters of Islamists, I never condone or even try to "justify" brutality against civilians. Since I have little information on Gujarat violence(aside from the fact that it started after murderous Muslim extremists burned down a train load of Hindus, and worthless Hindu extremists rioted burning down hundreds of Muslims), I'm not in an informed position to talk about it.

However, the topic we were debating was Kashmir. Kashmir was, is, and will always be a part of India, even if all the resident Hindus are ethnically cleansed by Islamists. That's my view.

Anyway, you mentioned the Indian opposition to the US. The heart of the matter, however, is that the Indian government is a coalition of different parties, both Hindu right and the secular left.

I'm pretty sure the Hindu right of the coalition would not bother if we invade Iraq, or any other Muslim country for that matter. But, they don't entirely control the government, despite them being the core. The coalition needs Muslim and the secular vote.

Indian secularists are Socialists and hate America more than any other country. So, the final outcome of the Indian government's decision lies on the religious right appeasing their stance for the sake of their crooked coalition.

Amnesty International does more than a fine job condeming such attacks, whereas they seal their lips when Hindus are being massacred in Kashmir. I speak for defenseless Kashmiris that are being systematically terrorized and massacred by the Islamists.
