Oh please! A little over a hundred years ago cities were up to their ankles in horse manure most of the time. Somehow we survived. Dog doo is going to have a long way to go to compare to that as an air pollutant. I don’t recall reading about massive human epidemics from horse manure effluvia back in the day.

I have consulted the DMS many times in my line of work and believe me they do not have to change dx criteria to cause more people to be considered as having a metal disorder. If someone wanted to do that, there is all ready a wealth of material to work with. The DMS is being reviewed because it happens every some many years on a regular basis.

Every time the DMS is revised there are arguments like this and it is absurd. As it stands now there is not even remotely enough money to treat people with legitimate psychological problems. Insurance companies do not want to deal with it, not do state or federal agencies. It has always been that way and probably will always be the same. More dx titles will not make more people able to afford treatment. This article is absurd

I was listening and it was the usual mix of people calling in telling their troubles. The theme of the program was not race,the “N” word or otherwise. This woman called up and Dr. Laura just went on and on about the use of the “N” word as opposed to dealing with the marriage problem she called about. The whole incident was unexpected and distasteful

The woman called saying she is black and is married to a white man. Evidently this was a marriage of long standing from what I gathered. Her marriage has been troubled of recent and she says her husband has begun to address her in a racist manner. He also has friends over and allows them to make racist comments in her presence and does nothing to correct the situation. She called Dr, Laura asking how to best speak to her husband about this. The woman said nothing about the “N” word but referred to other racist statements. It was Dr, Laura who brought it up and repeated it over and over. Instead of talking about what exact problems were in the marriage, Dr. Laura attacked the woman about the use of the “N” word in currently American society.

I am sure that if Dr. Laura were in a mixed marriage and her husband starting calling her racist Jewish names she might feel more than a little hurt. I think that she would feel as upset if this same husband egged his friend on to do the likewise. The question was not about race sensitivity, the woman was looking for advice on her marriage. Dr. Laura is, in theory at least, there to give advice on personal and relationship issues. She was grossly insensitive to the caller especially at the end of the call. It was grotesque. Dr. Laura was throwing sound the “N” word and the caller said she did not like that, so Dr. Laura said it several times more in a row before hanging up on her. There was no reason for that and her behavior was appalling.

Couldn't happen to a nicer gal. She likes to share how incredibly smart she is, however, anyone with an ounce of common sense would have known how to make her point in a less offensive manner.

She did not hear what this caller's was saying, she chose to go off on tangent about the "N" word and did not address the caller concern at all. She made her point and now she looks like a jerk. If she had seen her caller as a person in pain asking for help, instead of trying to display her "smarts" she would not be in this position.

This is an old article they are running again. I read this from MSNBC at least about 4-5 months ago. I guess they recycle their old stuff and stick a new date on it when they have a slow news cycle in the feature section. I know this for a fact because I sent the same article to some of my friends when it first came out.

I am a crazy cat lady and proud of it so kiss my a... MSNBC. Not every female with more than two cats is a mental case. I found the article offensive a few months ago and I find it offensive now.

Sometimes, FR is a chance to take my mind off the work.I hear you and I have just got to say, get back to work and make some bucks mister!!! We may disagree, but we are fellow conservatives at heart. I'm ready for a dance anytime, for sure, since I am off on vacation for the next three weeks. After that well.. MBA is not competent to run such a company.

Sadly this is true. We have gone such a long way to disparage the manual arts our educational system and via society in general. No one is smart unless they have a BA, MA or PhD behind their name. Thank God for people who can actually DO things. My roommate has a MBA but could not balance a check book to save her life. It's up to me with the AA in nursing to write the checks
