Why are so many conservatives gay? It seems like it is more than just a random percentage of the population of all prominent leaders and that is bewildering. At least Rush is straight.

Beautifully said. Our faith in Jesus and His acceptance of us as we are should always draw us together; never separate us. God Bless.

Public schooling started in America in Boston to help change the unhygenic behavior of new arrivals, in that case the Irish. It was a bad idea in 1830 and it is a bad idea today.

What? You expect them to cross train themselves to do productive work without a government program in place? Shocking. The companies they shake down should just say NO.

To understand Islam as a theological or cultural technology as opposed to a social culture it is necessary to consider the success of Islams in this country today. Islam is not, if you correctly read the Koran, anti woman per se. Many strong women are Muslims and most Muslims in this country are very main stream and very prosperous. I suggest several other lines of inquiry that might better serve the dispassionate inquirer. First, consider the recent introduction of literacy into the Muslin world. Reference this with the interesting theoretical structure posed by Dr. Leonard Shlain in his best selling book, "The Alphabet vs. the Goddess." If the introduction of literacy acts on the neurological matrix of the human brain in ways that cause cultural shift then the cultural ramifications for areas newly literate re not essentially theological but biological. Dr. Shlain cites a similar shift at the introduction of printing. The Guttenberg Bible signelled a shift that envoked changes in law ans culture that denied to woman access to justice and property rights and participation in a culture that had been actively pursued by them previously. This happened rapidly. Far from being an age of enlightenment for all humanity the Renaissance was actually a holocaust for women, also marking the beginning of the Inquisition. It went on for at least two hundred years. This is a complex question. What we do not know - yet - will probably prove to be most significant in the eventual understanding of the human dynamics we see here. Second, consider the influences present in the regions where what we think of as Islam is both cultural and combined with the means for oppression provided by the State. It takes no careful student of history to know that the ugly alliance of the State, any State, with theology produces oppression.

I think Bush's comments are cute, funny and on point. Every group has things that can be funny. Humor is a great way of defusing antagonism and finding grounds for new understanding. Look at what Foxworthy has done for rednecks.

It sound to me as if the cat desperately needs to go to the vet. Cats can live a long time. We hd one that lived to be twenty-five, still bringing home a steady supply of mice and chipmunks. Lined them up for us to admire. I thought about mounting their heads for her, but couldn't quite decide where we could hang them for the appropriate effect. Also, she seemed to like them as they were. I am sure she will be fine after a visit tothe vet. Sounds like a wonderful cat. Hope she is well now.
