Can someone explain how it is harder for a Black American or Hispanic American to obtain an identification than it is for a White American? What am I missing? Do they have Whites’s Only days at the DMV?

It would be a bigger boost to the Right than his first victory in 2016.

The greatest accomplishment that Trump gave America was keeping Hillary out of the White House. Saving America by defeating the cheat of the Democrat Party this go-around will be a very close second.

I agree, Trump and his VP choice need to go into the heart of the Redest of Red cities and hold a rally. He wouldn’t likely win those cities, but he doesn’t need to actually win them, just increase the percentage of votes from the inner city residents. He can make a great case that life was much better for them under his administration than under Biden. They want the same things for their families that others want - security, employment, decrease in inflation, and HOPE. It would absolutely drive the Dems crazy if he dives into the heart of their taken-for-granted voters neighborhoods. “If you don’t vote for Biden, you ain’t Black!”

Correct but it also means that the 30 Florida votes can’t be counted for them in the electoral college. Election 2024 is too important to pick Trump and another Floridian and hope that they can still make up the automatic loss of Florida electors in the Electoral Vote Count.

I am no constitutional expert, but this is how I understand the above question regarding both candidates for President and Vice President.

The electors of a state vote for a President and Vice President on separate ballots. They may not vote for a person from their home state for both offices. Therefore, if Trump picked a VP candidate from Florida and won Florida ( please God!) they they could vote for Trump for President and anyone else for VP, or abstain for voting for a candidate for VP. (Florida law requires electors to vote for the winner of the popular vote - however, see below). If then, no candidate for VP received the required 270 electoral voted, the Senate then picks the winner for VP. This would only be an issue in an extremely close election like Bush-Gore in 2000 (had Cheney not established a Wyoming driver’s license and residence and listing his Dallas home for sale prior to the election.) So it is likely that in practicality, it does not matter if the President and Vice-President are from the same state.

    ***********************************************************************************

Over the years, however, despite legal oversight, a number of electors have violated their state’s law binding them to their pledged vote. However, these violators often only face being charged with a misdemeanor or a small fine, usually $1,000. Many constitutional scholars agree that electors remain free agents despite state laws and that, if challenged, such laws would be ruled unconstitutional. Therefore, electors can decline to cast their vote for a specific candidate (the one that wins the popular vote of their state), either voting for an alternative candidate, or abstaining completely. In fact, in the 2000 election, Barbara Lett-Simmons, an elector for the District of Columbia, cast a blank ballot for president and vice president in protest of the District’s unfair voting rights. Indeed, when it comes down to it, electors are ultimately free to vote for whom they personally prefer, despite the general public’s desire.

I’m not exactly sure WHY he moved to Texas from Florida, but I do know he got shafted because the powers-that-be were afraid of him as a congressman and they gerrymandered him out of his seat. He’s been here in Texas a long time so I seriously doubt this would be an issue. He was chairman of the Republican Party in Texas for a time. It’s not like he moved just to run for office like Hillary, or RFK moving to New York to win a Senate seat. Of course, Democrats don’t care about rules now do they? Torricelli anyone?

Allen West? Is it the Allen West from Florida? Or the Allen West from Texas?

Yes, one and the same, Lt. Col (ret) Allen West who was gerrymandered out of his Florida House seat who has moved to Texas where he served as Chairman of the Texas GOP for a time. He mounted a half-hearted campaign for governor which I thought at the time was more of an attempt to raise his profile and name-awareness among Texas voters as no one was going to unseat Abbott. He is my choice to replace John Cornyn in the Senate in 2 years. People in these parts are touting Attorney General Ken Paxton to take on Cornyn or succeed Cornyn if he decides not to seek reelection but he has more than his share of legal and political baggage. Allen West is a true Conservative and would be great in any political or cabinet position.

All he had to do was pick the ones I didn’t.... he’d have made a fortune. I had a patient in the 1990s who has been a banker that handled the deposits for Arlington Park.... Amazing numbers for sure.
I met a gentleman who was cashing a winning ticket on a horse that paid $2.20 to win on a $2.00 bet. I scoffed at that and asked how he could make anything on the favorites like that.... he smiled and said you can when you do it for a living and bet enough !! I did realize that, like Vegas, they don’t build those places so people like me can take money home from there !!
I also lost my share at Maywood Park, Sportsman’s Park, Hawthorne Park, and Balmoral Park.

It is not a complete physical examination in a 70+ year old unless there is at least a screening cognitive screen such as a mini-mental state exam or the Montreal Cognitive Assessment and if that shows impairment a more complete neuropsychological assessment should be considered. If there is obviously no impairment in the initial conversation with the patient, and no family concerns then those steps are not generally completed. However, it’s pretty obvious that would not be the case with Biden given his demonstrated and documented issues with his thought processes. No doubt they will pronounce him fit-as-a fiddle with no impairment.... if so that is akin to medical malpractice.

  • Woman, 25, with life-threatening ectopic pregnancy is refused treatment by Texas hospital - because doctors say it constitutes an abortion *BARF ALERT*

    DrHFrog to Morgana

My take as a physician and former ER physician is that this case had absolutely nothing to do with abortion laws in the state of Texas. This is a case of mis-diagnosis, with the doctors initially thinking she was having a “missed abortion” in which fetal demise occurred (which can happen for various reasons such as chromosomal malformations for instance.) When this happens a natural miscarriage will generally occur and if it does not then medical treatment or a surgical procedure will need to be done to evacuate the uterus. Patients are generally treated expectantly for 48-72 hours before making the decision for more aggressive intervention. I suspect that a review of the medical record would verify that the staff originally did not diagnose this as an ectopic pregnancy which would have resulted in a semi-emergent surgery. Only after returning did they make the correct diagnosis and Dr. Morgan performed the necessary procedure. Arlington Memorial is a fine medical facility in the DFW Metroplex. I seriously doubt the implication of this article!

Kinda obvious ole Mitch is on the take.

Yes it is, and it has been for a long time....watching him behind a podium trying to speak, it’s so obvious that he is long past his “sell by” date. Why the majority of Senate Republicans haven’t replaced him with a real conservative tells us all we need to know about the true leanings of the majority of the R senators. There are quite a few senators who would be much better leaders. His only saving grace was keeping Garland off the Supreme Court so I guess there is that !

Sorry Betty Jane..... it IS obvious, and has been since his basement campaign of 2020 to anyone who is really watching and paying attention. Dems are just now having to face the reality of what their party has foisted upon America. The voters better figure it out in overwhelming numbers in November to overcome the cheat that is no doubt coming.

As a Texas, I am very concerned that the Dems will prevail in the Lone Star State within my remaining life-time. Ted Cruz barely beat Beto 6 years ago (Yes, Cruz took him lightly); major metropolitan areas like Dallas County, Williamson County, Harris County, Bexar County, Tarrant County and Travis County all favored the liberal Dems. I suspect immigration, the legal kind from liberal-leaning states like California, Illinois and New York, has quite a bit to do with this shift in demographics. Liberal leaning education or better termed “mal-education” is contributory. The sheeple are led to believe what the prevalent press tells them to believe as there is very little critical thinking in this day of social media group think. Yes, it is obvious Texas and Florida MUST remain in the R column for our county, as we used to know it, can return.

Truth will set you Free: You are correct about Part D. However most Advantage Programs do include Part D coverage. I find it risky not to have it (although their formularies, just like Medicare supplement part D coverages) as the unknown illnesses and meds like chemo etc are too expensive for me to handle on my own. The tier system of co-pays for meds costs me quite a bit as I have 2 tier 4 meds. Still though, having Part D for me makes sense.
