Yes, because most parents are Hovercrafts over their children. I'm sorry but the kids were no saints! I was there I remember! I remember sitting in church and watching some real shows from other kids. I think people see one misbehaving child and generalize. Believe it or not, people are people, if you look back in history the complaints I hear here Aristotle had the same ones.

My dad who is 82 years old told me that when his mother lost her husband, she was lost, they lived in Kansas. She had 4 children, 1 boy who was 10 yrs. old and two were in their teens or older and my Dad who was heading off to World War II. She was despondent and lost she didn't know how she was going to get by her family helped her but she had an emotionally hard time. She told my Dad to have his wife have a career so that all is not lost if the husband dies monetarily and emotionally. She had been a teacher before she married. She died not to far after her husband. Surprising words considering if she would be well over 100 yrs. old today. By the way my Mom is 79 years old and raised 5 children and worked full time. She is and was a wonderful mother.

There aren't conservative men who divorce their wives and have disdain for parenting? So working women have disdain for parenting and are looking to get involved with other men and run off with them? Just to clue you in working women carry the typical burdens of parenting and then some. But more often than not the husband has to be more involved with the children.

Yes, I went to a Catholic school back then and we had about 45 kids in our class. Gee I wonder why the nun was tying kids to their chairs? The taping the mouth? Oh and I remember one time a nun was disciplining a boy, she put him in a closet, she made a mistake and went in after a few minutes to talk to him, he panicked and pulled her habit off. Ahh, yes the good ole days! No discipline problems there! Total control!

So if both parents must work I suppose to most of the thinking here they are bad parents for leaving their children in daycare? I have seen many a family saved by the fact that both parents held jobs. When the husband lost his job his wife still had a salary that could pay the mortgage and put food on the table. The family kept on going while in a crisis, not as huge of a crisis if there was no cash coming into the home. Most women do not work because they want to, they must. So self righteous indignation at people who must work to give their children and families a better life is laughable.

Yes, I was born in 1956, believe it or not back then kids were not perfect. Plenty of bratty kids. Honestly I think parents today have better control, over their kids than in yester year. I don't buy into this idea that good ole days were all that good and everyone used to be good as gold because their daddy spanked them.

There were disruptive brats prior to the advent of daycare. Do people just post these articles so they and others can bloviate about bad parenting and bratty kids?

My son and daughter are in Catholic school also, they don't have a policy but if they find a student with a my space account they call the parents and have a meeting. Usually doesn't work out for the kid. parents usually didn't know they had a my space account.
