We’re now more likely to tell our daughters they can be anything they want to be — an astronaut and a mother, a tomboy and a girlie girl. But we don’t do the same for our sons. Even as we’ve given girls more choices for the roles they play, boys’ worlds are still confined, social scientists say. They’re discouraged from having interests that are considered feminine. They’re told to be tough at all costs, or else to tamp down their so-called boy energy. If we want to create an equitable society, one in which everyone can thrive, we need to...

They just don't. In my high school years, I was Richie Cunningham. The earnest young boy from "Happy Days" who always was looking to please others, especially the adults in his life. As a result, we were walked all over, taken advantage of and subsequently, not dated by girls. Now Richie Cunningham might have had a girlfriend or two during the fictitious "Happy Days" run but in my real-life Richie Cunningham phase, I had zero girlfriends. I did have several dates that went disastrously wrong because I thought dating was all about being a nice guy. It wasn't. During that...

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has ruled that Muslim parents in Switzerland will have to send their children to attend mixed-gender swimming lessons, despite conceding that religious freedoms were being interfered with, on the grounds that mixed-gender swimming lessons were part of a ‘full school curriculum’ and the children’s ‘successful integration’ into society. According to the BBC, the case was initiated by two Swiss nationals of Turkish origin from Basel who wouldn’t send their teenage daughters to compulsory mixed-gender lessons. Swiss education officials, however, said that exemptions were available only for girls who had reached the age of...

A school has been criticised after punishing a whole cheerleading squad after a male student said he was distracted by their short skirts. The student at Timpview High School had “impure” thoughts after seeing the squad in their uniforms, People reports, and so his mother wrote to the school and complained. After the formal complaint was made, rather than helping the male student to deal with the thoughts, the Utah school’s administrators appear to have punished the whole cheerleading squad. Administrators told the cheerleading coach at the school, who told the 44-strong cheerleading squad that they should not wear their...

When our son turned 6, my husband and I bought him a puppet theater and a chest of dress-up clothes because he liked to put on plays. We filled the chest with 20 items from Goodwill, mostly grown-man attire: ties, button-down shirts, a gray pageboy cap and a suit vest. But we didn’t want his or his castmates’ creative output to be curtailed by a lack of costume choices, so we also included high heels, a pink straw hat, a dazzling fairy skirt and a sparkly green halter dress. He was thrilled with these presents. He put on the sparkly...

Count on Hillary Clinton using both Obamas to further the progressive cause after winning the election Isn’t it downright sexist to suggest that all little boys must be taught that it’s alright for them to cry and that it’s alright for little girls to be bossy? That kind of thinking goes all the way back to the ignorant days when girl babies and boy babies in nurseries were identified by pink and blue colors. But that’s the ignorant message Michelle Obama delivered to hundreds of school girls and women in mostly Catholic Spain.

We should have seen this coming. There is no doubt that this was the next logical step. Once the Gender Dysphoria camel had his/her/it’s nose inside the tent, we could expect nothing less than the whole camel. Now, as there is a battle over where people can use the restroom heating up, a mainstay in the development of girls has now decided that it would denounce the specialness that is womanhood. WNYT reported last month

(CNSNews.com) – To help “create a classroom where students aren’t limited based on gender stereotypes,†teachers should address classes using words like “friends or “students†rather than girls and boys, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) advises in a new back-to-school guide. The first tip suggested by the HRC’s Welcoming Schools Initiative is for teachers to avoid using gender to “divide and address students.†The guide claims that separating students for activities according to gender “can leave some students feeling out-of-place, making them distracted or isolated and not able to focus on learning.â€The guide recommends finding new, inventive ways of dividing students...
