NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. Grover Norquist, the influential conservative who serves as president of Americans for Tax Reform, thinks there are only six Republicans who can win the 2016 Republican nomination for president.
His list, which he told Business Insider in an approximately hour-long interview Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.
"There are only six people who can credibly run start-to-finish, and any of them could conceivably win the presidency," Norquist said.
"And the reason is, each of those people could raise the money to run campaign all the way through. Each of those people has some name ID."
Notably, the list leaves out two prominent CPAC speakers Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. Norquist and his group have been highly critical of Cruz in the past, especially in the lead-up to the federal government shutdown last September.
Norquist's list only includes one senator Paul because he has made "savvy" political moves and has more of a name recognition with the general public. In general, Norquist thinks governors have a better chance of running a successful campaign.

Why Conservatives that have the power to invite who's who to CPAC.....This is a Disgrace! And we wonder why America is being destroyed? The enemy is us! We allow this to go on. Grover can go take a flying leap, DEPORT HIM!

This article is obviously part of the gOpE's war on the Tea Party and the guy they fear the most ... Ted Cruz.
Telling that Grover includes Rand Paul. He clearly doesn't fear his candidacy.
How I wish I had a crystal ball that would let me determine the future.
Screw him!! I’d not only vote for Cruz, but I’d man phones, knock on doors and donate $$. I’m a Realtor.
Paul can win but Cruz can’t????? Give me a break! Norquist is rapidly losing his relevance.
All losers.
Paul can win but Cruz can’t????? Give me a break! Norquist is rapidly losing his relevance.
Norquist can't be that stupid. Sure, Jeb has name recognition, so he could raise money. But who would actually vote for him?
Democrats? No. Independents? No. Republicans? The GOPe would vote for him, but he'd get no conservative support.
Jeb would lose in a landslide even to Biden.
“GROVER NORQUIST: Here Are The Only 6 Republicans Who Can Win In 2016”
By default, I reject anything I hear from this Dhimmi.
Jeb Bush??? Norquist has absolutely NO credibility with a list including anyone with the Bush surname.
"Vote for the most conservative candidate...WHO CAN WIN"
(will then proceed to tell you which flaccid, ho-hum, guaranteed loser candidate can win)
This isnt an endorsement of him, but Rand Paul starts from a functional advantage in having a national organization (inherited from his father). Even though Ron Paul didn’t go anywhere, his organization and the committed activists who will step up as the formational cadre to man it provide a significant leg up in running both a primary and national csmpaign.
Jeb Bush has something similar to draw from, but also the major stigma of his last name to go along with it.
What’s wrong with Scott Walker?
What, no Willard ???
Before Perry can have a chance he’s gonna have to learn how to speak on television and be quicker on his feet. It tend to like the guy, but his debate performances in the Primary race were an embarrassment. If he’s planing on running, hopefully he’s been working on it. Jindal could have the same type of problems, given that God-awful Republican response to the State of The Union address a few years ago.
I would be more than happy to see Walker at the top of the ticket. Jindal and Perry would be OK. Christie would be a disaster so he’s probably the one who will get the nomination. Rand Paul is the best if the group though.
I wanted to support Jindal when I first heard of him, but there has been no Crack The Whip kind of moment to convince me he had the aggression to be paid attention to, let alone win.
I’m not voting for Ron Paul II or any of these losers. I’ve wasted my vote twice now, this time I’ll write in who I want.
Nothing that I know of, but if Grover Norquist endorses him, you have to wonder...
