ANCHORAGE, Alaska--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Ron Paul 2008 Alaska presidential campaign invites Anchorage-area gun owners to a gun rights town hall meeting on Tuesday, January 29 at 7:00 p.m. The Q&A session will be held at the Ron Paul 2008 Alaska State Headquarters in Anchorage at 3339 Fairbanks St., near 34th and Old Seward, behind the Mooses Tooth.
"Congressman Paul is the leading advocate for gun owners and their rights in the presidential race, said Paul Alaska state political director Craig Bergman. He is the only presidential candidate truly fighting for the Second Amendment rights of Alaskans, and he will continue to fight against unconstitutional federal intervention in the rights of gun owners as President."
Ten-term Texas Congressman and Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul is the only pro-gun, pro-Constitution presidential candidate, and his record on Second Amendment rights is unparalleled. In the House of Representatives, Congressman Paul has led the fight to restore Second Amendment rights to all Americans, introduced legislation to repeal the Gun Free Zone victim disarmament law and fought expansion of the national Instant Background Check, opposed gun control projects that would force registration of all private sales, introduced legislation to protect Americans rights to carry guns in national parks, and is currently fighting for the rights of US veterans to own guns without government interference.
Congressman Pauls Alaska campaign is building on the heels of his second-place finishes in the Nevada and Louisiana caucuses. He is the only Republican presidential candidate actively campaigning in Alaska, with 2 offices, 11 field staffers, and 40 district chairs operating statewide.
Congressman Paul is also the highest-polling Republican presidential candidate in Alaska. In Decembers KTUU presidential preference poll, Ron Paul placed first with 29 percent of the vote.
The Alaska Republican presidential primary vote will take place on February 5, 2008.
No gun control ?????
Ping for Ron Paul.
The utter hipocrisy that floods these threads has gone beyond reason, it has become somewhat alarming to me.
Why is he being blackballed by the media, a lot of blogs and forums, and his own party members? This is very puzzling, yet telling to me.
Are you kidding? Paul has NEVER voted for any gun control whatsoever. He'd make the NRA itself look like gun grabbers.
let freedom Ping
I am 100%, foursquare in favor of gun control... for if you cannot control your weapon, you will never hit your target and might do damage to someone or something else... All else is victim disarmament...
I don’t think there’s been a stronger supporter of gun rights than Ron. There absolutely isn’t one left in the running now, only grabbers, floppers, and recent conversion artists.
Romney on gun rights;
“When Romney ran for Senate in 1994, he told the Boston Herald that he supported the Brady gun-control law and a ban on scores of semi-automatic firearms. Both laws were heavily supported by Democrats and — according to President Bill Clinton — were the reason that his party lost control of the Congress in 1994.”

Guliani on gun rights;
“In 1993, before even being sworn in as mayor, Giuliani met with then-President Clinton at the White House to discuss national gun registration. Giuliani supported the Brady bill, which had recently passed, but argued that it didn’t go far enough.”

Mccain on gun rights;
“Arizona Senator John McCain is running for President (again). He has been courting various conservative leaders in his quest to secure the Republican nomination. McCain wants voters to believe that he is a conservative... but his record would certainly suggest otherwise.
Take, for instance, his record on gun rights and political speech affecting Second Amendment activists. Abysmal, wretched, and pathetic are words that come to mind.”:

Paul on gun rights;
“Ron Paul has been a leader in the fight to defend and restore the Second Amendment. He has sponsored legislation to repeal the following:
the Brady law;
the requirement to lock up your safety (guns);
the law permitting the US to be part of the UN (which, among other attacks on American freedoms, seeks to ban privately transfered firearms);
participation in UNESCO — which has been used to dumb down US education standards;
the federal prohibition on importation of guns on a sporting basis test;
federal prohibitions on any pilot wishing to carry a handgun to and in his cockpit; and,
the so-called “assault weapons” ban (prior to its sunsetting in 2004).
Paul also has sponsored legislation requiring states to treat the concealed carry permit of one state the same as they do that state’s driver’s license.”

To me, the choice is as easy as can be.
I cannot trust a gun grabber.
That reminds me of the joke, don't drink and drive, you may hit something and spill your drink. = )
LOL
FRed agrees with you
cant remmber how it goes
Huckster is strong on the 2nd too, but he’s also a nanny-stater, which means he’ll probably tax the bullets and push for trigger locks and crap.
Well, I think the big problem some people have with Paul is that his (vocal) supporters have glommed onto the “no blood for oil!” platform.
This unfortunately turns off conservatives, which IMO are his natural base. But with the media blackout of Ron Paul, the fact that the other candidates ignore him, and the conventional wisdom that “he is a Code Pinko moonbat” — his real message is lost.
Because other than his opposition to the way the War in Iraq has been waged — he is a conservative’s wet dream. Fiscal responsibility, cutting the size of government, pro-life, pro-2nd amendment, pro-1st amendment, elimination of the welfare state, etc...
To me, to support Ron Paul I only have to let go of ONE thing. To support the remaining RINOs (sadly Thompson is gone now and even then his 1st amendment record is spotty), I have to be a socialist.
I no longer vote socialist.
Eloquently put.
The Paul foes will sacrifice everything dear to conservatives for a single issue in a war which can still be won without escalating.
As Barry Goldwater said “Who is going to pay for all of this”?
who are you voting for?
Designer prefers Gun Owners of America.
No compromises from GOA.
NRA lost my support years ago soon after Wayne took the reins.
Note to NRA: No, it is not about "gun crime". But they will never understand.
I no longer vote socialist.
Thats the argument Ive been trying to make to the 'anybody but billary' crowd.
Too bad I really knew nothing of Paul except for 'cut and run turtle defense policy' until a few weeks ago.
Hes been painted as a senile pyschotic. well, cept for the overly isolationist foreign policy [which we could use a bit of] I guess pyschotic senility has hit me at 40...
I will no longer sell my vote on the alter of compromising my honest beliefs. I will only vote for the candidate that most closely mirrors those beliefs and would REPRESENT them in government.
Pandering socialist politicians be damned, they will NOT get my vote again...
Huckabee’s 2A record isn’t horrible, but he is un-acceptable for many other reasons.
He is a nanny-statist, and having switched a few posistions very recently,(just like the rest) he cannot be trusted, either.
Being on the stop the huckster ping list has been a good education.
The problem is *that* one might cost you your head, or put your wife, sister, mother or daughter (or you, since I don't know if you are male or female) in a Burka. Or both. (In which case your daughter...etc, gets to be a concubine or a 4th wife).
Most repubs I talk to here will go for Ron Paul; even with some of his kooky remarks.
