What if the sex experts were determined to be quack doctors who knew full well that their treatments were ineffective?

borromew, great post. Every Catholic who is interested in cleaning up this festering cancer needs to read it. But lately I am wondering just how many Catholics care. To read the threads on FR it looks like Catholics are much more interested in fighting with each other and then Protestants and getting into long, interminable arguments about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

Judith Reismann has done a yeoman's job in pointing the bishops and good Catholics in the right direction.

maryz.,I pinged you because a long time ago I told you that I had read the Doyle,Mouttan and Peterson report and thought it was confusing and also looked to me like they were marketing themselves to the Church. I commented that I could see why the bishops may not have paid much attention. Read what she writes,it seems that indeed they were both confusing and marketing.

Yendu, thought you might find this interesting, print it out and send it to your bishop, who to me seems like a first class awful person and a shepherd, who deliberately scattered his sheep.

You might want to send this to the Magisterial Fidelity staff (or person). It's dynamite and should give her a lot of ammunition with these VOTF wolves in sheep's clothing. their disengenuousness is so offensive. You might also want to send it to the Globe to print since they are so desirous of cleaning up the Church.Hoho.

I thought the information on McHugh was praticularly chilling with respect to the stacked "citizens" committee appointed by the bishops, what a dam joke they were. He is even worse than the known weak links (Pannetta and Bennett).

Every once in a while I hear the name Flynn (archbishop of St. Paul) come up as a possible replacement for Law. He is a bad one. I bet he was on the committee that selected these rotten "citizens".

What an article. It gives anyone who cares, like bishops, cardinals and we who want this cancer gone,a ton of ammunition.

This should give VOTF and Call To Action something to worry about. I am sure that somewhere, heavily involved in this whole scandal are those very people who were seduced by the siren call of the sexologists, among them members of both of these groups. Yes, some lawsuits directed at the people who sowed and watered the roots of this should scare the hell out of a lot of these smarmy old fools. The deep pockets of some "progessives",psychiatrists,psychologists,Nambla,Act-Up,and other such groups should be just as if not more alluring than the Church. That is if the objective is not to destroy the Church.

Lots of fact, lots of good information. This Judith Reissman should get an award for Catholic Woman of the Year. I don't know that she is Catholic but she has sure showed how we can clean up the Church. I know it's a long article but please believe me,its worth every minute.

I wouldn't get too happy about this yet. Like you said, or somebody, there's lots of apathy out there.

I have been waiting for this.

Knew it would happen (at least the possibility of it) from the very fist priest/abuse case.

For the archives and for action! Note especially the comments on McCue(sp). A goat of a doctor, named by the bishops to sit on the Citizens Committee with Panetta and Bennett.Does anyone know who was on the bishops committee that appointed these characters? They ought to be stripped naked and sent by box car across the country so we could go out and spit at them.

Eastsider,I am still visualizing you lashed to that cross as it toppled. great story!

Yes, I am disturbed at the increasing apathy. I was going to ping you next because I was interested in your comments and thoughts on where we could go with it. Do you have any?

Well, a plan of action would be good. Starting with a well-documented list of the actual misleadings. Better do it fast, too. If lawsuits are really involved, iron-clad evidence is essential.

The other thing is publicity. This is not going to get much play on the regular sources and considering the number of influential Catholics who denegrate EWTN, finding dissemination vehicles isn't going to be easy.

I was going to bump you first but I had a load of anger in me and for some reason,I did not want you to see some of my nastier thoughts. You just seem like such a truly good person.Glad you saw this and liked it bump as many people as you can. Wake them from their slumber.

There are others that I did not bump because of other, contrary reasons and some I just forgot or got the spelling wrong. But I think every active participant on this board who cares about saving the Catholic Church in America should read this.

they did send pedopriests to these centers for repair, or cures.

Or laundering. Thanks for the ping.

Didja catch Cardinal Keeler on last week's "Meet the Press"? We're on the road to recovery, he explained, because we now have better "procedures" in place.

This is why captains who run their vessels aground are relieved of their commands: not only pour encourager les autres, but more fundamentally, because they're incompetent.

This article has a whole lot of interesting, factual information. Any thoughts? Do any of you sense an increasing apathy with regards to cleaning up this mess we are in?

There will be no lawsuits. Dioceses that have been grossly negligent or actively complicit in recycling ordained perverts are not about to expose themselves to the hazards and humiliations of discovery.

Dioceses HAVE been negligent. But, I do think the possibility of lawsuits is out there. Not advisable, but out there. It would really look like passing the buck rather than just saying, "We tried it your way. That didn't work. So, we're going back to what does." But, I can see the odd archbishop giving it a try anyway.

I am sure you are correct. However, suggesting it to the victims might scare the guiily into resigning.Or,if not into resigning scare them into a paralysis that would limit activities. There is also something very uncomfortable about having your every action watched, takes a lot of joy out of being "important".A whole lot of hanky-panky does not occur at the opera when suspicious parishioners are sitting next to you or behind you.

There is a serious moral dilemma about lawsuits against the Catholic Church.

Q: Who is going to be hurt by the lawsuits?
A: Certainly not the guilty -- not the pederast and not the negligent bishops.
