Kyivan Orthodox Bishop Denies That He Became Traditionalist Catholic
LVIV, UKRAINE, Nov 22, 02 (RISU.org.ua) According to the website of the Congregation of Mary Immaculate Queen (CMRI), Bishop Yurii Yurchyk of Donetsk and Mariupol of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate (UOC-KP) repudiated his church and joined a traditionalist Catholic Church in the USA on 24 October 2002. On 19 November 2002, however, the website of the UOC-KP posted a statement by Bishop Yurchyk in which he refuted the story.
According to the CMRI website, Bishop Yurchyk was accepted into the Catholic faith by Bishop Mark Pivarunas, CMRI, of the USA. The CMRI is not in communion with Rome and rejects the Second Vatican Council. The website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) repeated the story on 18 November 2002, and also Internet sites also covered it.
In his statement of19 November 2002, posted on the site of the UOC-KP, Bishop Yurii denied the story. He called the publication of the UOC-MP libel, targeted at discrediting not only my title of bishop, but also the whole Kyivan Patriarchate and the whole church.
Concerning my contacts with heterodox churches in the USA, they really took place. However, there was no transfer to Catholicism on my part whatsoever As the bishop of Donetsk, I maintain such contacts and believe that this is a normal and civilized phenomenon. Regarding my repentance of schism or my acceptance of Catholic doctrines, this is inaccurate information. I was and remain a hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate, reads the statement of Bishop Yurii Yurchyk.
The site of the UOC-KP also reported that on 19 November at a session of that churchs Holy Synod a resolution was passed, at the request of Bishop Yurii Yurchyk, to designate an episcopal vicar for the Donetsk eparchy.

Intrigues hanging around from the Soviet are not my thing. But I have noticed a greater appreciation of Orthodoxy from other Christians here and there, like Anglicans and Catholics. Tend to be appreciation of ceremony and tradition, priests (most) allowed to marry and the perception of a church with central controls without the seeming excess bureaucracy and intrigues of Catholic church.
It is common knowledge that the Communist oppression created a great deal of splintering of the Church. This appears to be nothing more than the latest example.
LOL. You think they would kill him to hide him from you? Perhaps the aliens and bildeburgers could help.As far as damage control, if you cant produce the Bishop, its going to be quite effective damage control.Yes, Stalin's.
As to the rest of your post, I notice you seem to spend all of your time here Protesting against the Church and the Pope. Interesting. All your responses seem to be to Catholics, and against the Church. If we are all Protestants, as your theology supposedly states, why arent you also trying to convert other types of Protestants? It is so obvious your only real reason for being here is to drag people away from the Church, but I doubt you will ever see that.

4) more importantly, the real problem (for which he would be deposed in any real Orthodox jurisdiction) is the canon against serving (ie liturgically) with heretics (which we view the RC Church). The website atOf course, he didnt do this with the Catholic Church. These are non-Catholic schismatics. Our schismatics and your schismatics are hanging out.

Didn't know she was ordained.
Irish pop star Sinead O'Connor - who once famously tore up a picture of Pope John Paul II at a concert in New York-- has been "ordained" to the priesthood by a renegade Catholic bishop.I love how they keep referring to their little traveling sideshow as the Church and the Catholic Church. Just like the rest of our schismatics, liberal or Traditionalist.O'Connor-- who has two children by two different fathers-- was given the name "Mother Bernadette Mary" during last Thursday's ordination ceremony at the Marian shrine of Lourdes in France.
The ceremony was carried out by Irish Bishop Michael Cox, a former policeman who was ordained a bishop of the schismatic sect based in Palmar de Troya in Spain. Bishop Cox recently formed the "Latin Tridentine Church" with dissident priest Father Pat Buckley. Buckley, who was suspended from the priesthood by the former head of the Irish Catholic Church, Cardinal Cahal Daly, was last year illicitly ordained as a bishop by Bishop Cox.
But the two bishops fell out over a gift of IR£150,000 by Sinead O'Connor to Bishop Cox. The pop star said she gave Bishop Cox the money to set up a "healing center" for travellers (gypsies) in the Irish midlands. She also offered to pay for a hernia operation for the bishop.
Bishop Buckley said the donation was "disturbing" and he would be very worried "if the money was attached in even the slightest way to the performance of a sacrament." He said he had no difficulty with the ordination of a woman, but he was concerned that O'Connor had been ordained after only six weeks of theological study.
O'Connor told Irish radio that she had already celebrated four Masses -- two in English and two in Latin. She said the Catholic Church should be grateful to her for using her priesthood to bring young people back to the Church. Bishop Cox said O'Connor would "bring massive numbers of people back to Christ through her music."
