"valid and illicit" should read "valid and licit." Tx.

Thank you for your rapid and generous forgiveness. Bless you.

Now, just because I have tried to set my Will on acting like the Christian I say that I am that doesn't mean I won't fall back into old habits. I am Irish and Agonquin and I would rather fight than _ _ _ _ [flee :)]. If you or anyone else see me back-sliding, call me on it.

Again, thank you and God Bless you

Thanks for your opposition. I mean that in sincerity. It was helpful in blasting through my recalictrant rhetoric.

That took guts, Catholicguy. Thanks a lot, because you speak for all of us at times.

I quit the Neverending thread and others like it for the spiritual oasis of the Catholic Caucus - my pride was all to often more apparent in my posts than was my love for God and all the wonderful gifts he has given us. My participation in those threads was slowly becoming spiritual suicide for me. The "I'm right and you are wrong" just isn't good for us, IMO. I came to understand Ecumenism (the John Paul II way) much better when I drew back and looked around.

Anyway, it would be such a tragedy for all of us if these threads disintegrate into infighting.

PS. I have a lot of respect for your wonderful command of the english language - very impressive (I'm actually jealous)! If I had your gift I'd be cranking out letters left and right to our Cardinals and Bishops. I'm pretty sure they "circular file" anything they get from me!

I wrote you a response that took a lot of time and it got wiped out,my computer,or server,or telephone is out of sorts. So I'll just be quick.

Livius, could you give me a description of how you envision the structure of the Church and how it should operate.I think I don't understand what you are searching for but do know the Papacy is of paramount importance in this current situation in the US and will be if something happens to the Pope,as it surely will some day. So please, give me your vision and if you have time, one concrete example of how you see the power princes in the Vatican as thwarting or contributing to this present crisis.Again,I see a lot of uncatholic functionaries over there, who are at odds with the CAtholic Church.Thanks.

Really nice apology but not necessary for me. I knew you were going around Boston sampling beer. Next thing you were engaged in some pretty hot stuff.I figured you had found a 24/7 cyber-cafe and were working non-stop sampling beer and dashing off little thoughts as they occurred.I was sure your wife and daughter were probably happily touring New England and glad you had found something to occupy your time.In my heart,I knew that eventually they would ask you to leave the cyber-cafe or your family would insist that you drive them home, and things would stabilize!!Anyway ,looking forward to more of your informative posts.

Thanks for the generous response. Just seeing your name reminded me I had been less than Christian with you also. My apologies.

I am afraid this thread will begin to approach the length of the neverending thread if I extend to each individually the apologoies I no doubt owe.

I know that General Absolution is forbidden unless there are dire emergencies, but, I don't know of any prohibition against general apologies so....

I apologise..and you know who you are out there :)

Don't expect miracles. Keep me on my toes. Fighting is my addiction.

Just a quick reminder that your belief regarding infiltration is not unfounded.

<> Far more dedicated were the secular leaders of the antiGod State Russia/Soviet Union. That Satanic State collapsed.

THe Catholic Church has been made a promise by Jesus - it will not collapse.

Mebbe it is just me, but I think it odd to speculate about Commies long after the soviet Union collapsed. Are they even more powerful after haiving been defeated?

I agree with Sardippity - they were one piece of a puzzle; and I agree with Polycarp..I dont think that A-22 (or whatever it was) book is genuine<>

We may never know to what extent Vatican II was influenced by, if not actually planned, the Kremlin. PLease tell me you are kidding....<>

The Council was not planned in minute detail by the Kremlin.

But neither can the possibility of Communist infiltration of the Church be dismissed out of hand. The Soviets put great effort into infiltrating just about every other institution in the free world, with varying degrees of success.

The notion that Western security services could be thoroughly compromised by Soviet agents was considered laughable. Yet the Cambridge ring, Otto John, Aldrich Ames & Robert Hanssen show otherwise.

Many of Joseph McCarthy's supposedly most baseless accusations have also been proven to be quite well-founded.

You can't tell me that every priest behind the Iron Curtain was so pure as not to consider turning informant to save his skin.

You also can't tell me that the Communists would not regard the world's most powerful religious organization as being of so little consequence as not to bother infiltrating.

Dear Loyalist,

"The Council was not planned in minute detail by the Kremlin."

"But neither can the possibility of Communist infiltration of the Church be dismissed out of hand."

"The notion that Western security services could be thoroughly compromised by Soviet agents was considered laughable."

I hadn't realized that Western security services had been promised the Divine protection of the Holy Spirit.
