Announcing the Catholic Freeper Locator List
June 14, 2002 | Romulus

Posted on 06/14/2002 8:24:23 AM PDT by Romulus

Yesterday's thread on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Summer Plenary Session. turned up a lot of Catholic FReepers suggesting that it's time for the faithful laity to get more visible and active in pressing for a restoration of right order in the Church. To that end, I've decided to develop and maintain a list of Catholic FReepers, sorted by state, as a resource for future activism. Some of us will wish to collaborate on future projects; others may simply find the list handy for purposes of fellowship. If you want to be on this list, please post your state (or overseas country) on this thread. I'll collate whatever comes in, and Askel5 will post the results on the ConSpiratio web site.

In posting your FR handle and location, you're not volunteering for anything except the chance of being contacted in the future. Whatever activism you then undertake is entirely up to you. For the record, I have no specific plan for this list, nor am I aware of anyone else's. It seems like something that needs to be done, however, and I'll wager the very existence of a good list will generate fruitful ideas.

If you prefer not to post your location, please bump the thread anyway. Thanks!

There definitely needs to be a militant wing of the Catholic Church.

Actually, Labyrinths (I didn't look at that church, and I don't approve of what the priest is doing to his church) were a medieval thing...it was for a devotion sort of like the way of the Cross, where walking the path was like taking a pilgrimage in heart to Jerusalem...but of course, it wasn't a thing one would put around the altar, either.

I wonder about these priests who don't really believe in the divinity of Christ or the fact that they will be held accountable for everyone they screwed up...

I have been charged with the responsibility of developing a chant choir at the indult TLM, Our Lady of Peace in Park Slope. 12:30 PM every Sunday. Rehearsals take place promptly at 11:30 AM before Mass.

I start the 30th - Christ the King. I do not have a "choir" I can call my own yet, so as far as Oct. 30th goes, I will probably be singing the Gregorian propers solo, while Missa de Angelis/Credo III is used for the Ordinary - the congregation knows it well.

The choir goals are ambitious and based on Msgr. Hellriegel's strategy of chant implementation, my own understanding of the chant, and the official liturgical documents.

For starters, some of the objectives are: a rotation of four Mass Ordinaries and three Credos throughout the year; full Gregorian propers, with psalm verses as appropriate; musical and spiritual development.

The Queens indult TLM is at St. John's Cemetery Chapel, Middle Village, 2nd and 4th Sundays at 9:00 AM. Rehearsals will take place promptly at 8:00 AM.

If you know of anyone willing to join either in Brooklyn or Queens, please send them my way. Initial rehearsals will be held before Mass and focus largely on the dialogue responses, Mass Ordinary, Introit and Communion antiphons.

Aren't you just making easier for them to find you when the persecutions start? ;-)
