Prayer for Priests

A Prayer for Priests of the Latin Rite

O Jesus, our great High Priest,
hear my humble prayers on behalf of your priests.
Give them a deep faith, a bright and firm hope, and a burning love
which will ever increase in the course of their priestly life.
In their loneliness, comfort them.
In their sorrows, strengthen them.
In their frustrations, point out to them that it is through suffering
that the soul is purified,
and show them that they are needed by the Church
they are needed by souls
they are needed for the work of redemption. Amen.

O Loving Mother Mary, Mother of Priests,
take to your heart your sons who are close to you
because of their priestly ordination
and because fo the power which they have received
to carry on the work of Christ
in a world which needs them so much.
Be their comfort, be their joy, be their strength,
and especially help them to live and to defend
the ideals of consecrated celibacy. Amen.

Agreed ...those that hate Christ want to slander the good men that seek to serve God..

We all need to pray as Jesus said that more workers are sent into the fields..harvest is coming..

O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,

fountain of every blessing,

I love you and I adore you

and with a lively sorrow for my sins,

I offer you my poor heart.

Make me humble, patience, pure

and wholly obedient to your will.

Grant good Jesus that

I may live in you and for you.

Protect me, in the midst of danger.

Comfort me, in my afflictions.

Assist me, in my temporal needs.

Give me health of mind, body & spirit.

Grant your blessings on all that I do.

Give me a happy life & a Holy death.

Amen.

Prayer for the Health of the Holy Father

We pray to Abba, the Eternal Father, in and subject to His will, in the name, the heart and the blood of Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit, Lord and giver of life, and through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament, and as Mediatrix of all graces, that Pope John Paul II, will be cured and healed of all illness and, that his earthly life shall extend, free from any harm, so that the Pope will continue to serve as Vicar of Christ for many years to come.

Amen.

Closing Prayer—Litany to the Holy Spirit

The leader recites the invocations, to which all respond:

Come, dwell with us.

Spirit of the living God (2 Corinthians 3:3)
Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead (Romans 8:11);
Spirit who had been promised (Ephesians 1:13);
Spirit richly poured out on us (Titus 3:6);
Spirit of grace (Hebrews 10:29);
Spirit of truth (John 14:17);
Spirit who comes to the aid of our weakness (Romans 8:26);
Spirit who intercedes for us (Romans 8:26);
Spirit who intercedes for the holy ones (Romans 8:27);
Holy Spirit, the Paraclete (John 14:16).

Leader: Let us pray. (All pray briefly in silence.)
God our Father, pour out upon the world the gifts of your Holy Spirit.
As you sent the Spirit upon the Church to begin the teaching of the gospel,
now let the Spirit continue to work in the world through the hearts of all who believe.We ask this through Christ our Lord.
(Votive Mass of the Holy Spirit)

All: Amen.

A hymn to the Spirit (such as “Come Holy Ghost) may be sung, and a final blessing invoked, as all answer “Amen” to each petition.

Leader: May God bless us with the Spirit’s gifts and enlighten us as followers of Christ.

May the fiery tongues that hovered above the disciples burn away all evil and inflame our hearts.

May the Spirit that prompted various tongues unite all believers in faith and love.

May God bless us, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Prayer for Parish Priests by Saint John Vianney

Dear Saint John Vianney, your childhood dream was to be a Priest, to win souls for God. You endured years of toil and humiliation to attain the Priesthood. You became a Priest truly after God's own heart, outstanding in humulity and poverty; prayer and mortification. Totally devoted to the service of God's people. The Church has exalted you as model and patron saint of all Parish Priest, trusting that your example and prayers will help them to live up to the high dignity of their vocation to be faithful servants of God's people, to be perfect imitators of Christ the Savior Who came not to be served but to serve, to give His Life in ransom for many.

Pray that God may give to His Church today many more Priests after His own Heart. Pray for all the Priests under your patronage, that they may be worthy representatives of Christ the Good Shepherd. May they wholeheartedly devote themselves to prayer and penance; be examples of humility and poverty; shining modelss of holiness; tireless and powerful preachers of the Word of God; zealous dispensers of God's Grace in the Sacraments. May their loving devotion to Jesus in the Eucharist and to Mary His Mother be the Twin Fountains of fruitfulness for their ministry. Amen.

I think salvation is taking a slap at me by pinging me to this old thread by your Da. I posted a thread about the Novus Ordo, and it is indeed a harsh article. But it wasn't meant as a condemnation of all those who love the Latin Language and certainly not a slap at your Da. It was posted more out of frustration at ultima ratio and other schismatics who are constantly trashing the Pope on this forum. So if I have offended you by posting that thread, I apologize. I e-mailed salvation but she isn't going to answer me. I guess I'll think a bit more before posting an article.

Oh! I am wrong Siobhan. I should have known better. That thread really got me down though. And I am too sensitive for my own good. I sent salvation an apology and I apologize to you also.

Basically it was:

Now see...I was over here crying because you took so long to reply! I am a sensitive soul. I took the ping so out of context I am ashamed of myself. I thought you were upset with me. I even pinged Sioban to cry to her about my innocence! I am sorry, that thread was just horrible and got to me. I should have known better to think you wouldn't tell me to me face. I am going to post this on the thread also. My apologies.

I will pray for some more vocations for my Mea Culpa. =(

You are forgiven. God bless.

I am thinking about posting a separate thread about August 14th being a day of Penance, Prayer and Fasting for all Bishops, priests and the laity in reparation for all the harm done to innocent victims in the current Chruch crisis?

We had a note from our Archbishop in our bulletin. I could just type it in.

What do you think?

Somehow I missed these messages to me. I was not offended by that thread. And I didn't take it as a slap at Da. I think Da would have trounced ultima ratio with one post while praying for his soul at the same time. And Da would have pled with all of us to pray for priests morning, noon, and night. My father was such a man of faith, and he was so real at the same time. I hope that makes sense. I know sometimes daughters 'think" their fathers are great men -- but in Da's case he really was one of the greatest of men.

I have always looked at it as a matter of courtesy on my part to ping you when I bring your Da's thread back up. If it bothers you I will not ping you. I'm just trying to let you know you Da was a great person when it came to praying for all.
God bless,
Salvation

I deeply appreciate it when you ping me to these threads. Sometimes when I see them I just start crying, but it is a good kind of crying. I am so moved that people thought highly of him, and I thank you for continuing to remind me and others of some of his sage advice. God bless you, Salvation.

I'm so glad. Sometimes these threads can make a person lose their patience. And I would have loved to have seen your Da trounce ultima. He would have whopped him with 3/4 of his brain tied behind his back. hehehe

I love you both. You're fine people.

Bump for holy vocations to the priesthood!

Prayer for Priests

Lord Jesus, You have chosen Your priests from among us and sent them out to proclaim Your word and to act in Your name. For so great a gift to Your Church, we give You praise and thanksgiving. We ask You to fill them with the fire of Your love, that their ministry may reveal Your presence in the Church. Since they are earthen vessels, we pray that Your power shine out through their weakness. In their afflictions let them never be crushed; in their doubts never despair; in temptation never be destroyed; in persecution never abandoned.

Inspire them through prayer to live each day the mystery of Your dying and rising. In time of weakness send them Your Spirit, and help them to praise Your heavenly Father and pray for poor sinners. By the same Holy Spirit, put Your word on their lips and Your love in their hearts, to bring good news to the poor and healing to the brokenhearted. And may the gift of Mary, Your mother, to the disciple whom You loved, be Your gift to every priest. Grant that she who formed You in her human image, may form them in Your divine image, by the power of Your Spirit, to the glory of God the Father. Amen.

O Mary conceived without sin pray for use who have recourse to you.
O Mary conceived without sin pray for use who have recourse to you.
O Mary conceived without sin pray for use who have recourse to you.
