Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |
I think about the language and see what God is trying to communicate. He is saying "from Sabbath to Sabbath" in the same way we would say "year after year" or "day after day."
It is an attempt using human language to express that the worship goes on forever. From moon to moon to moon to moon to moon to moon ....
From Sabbath to sabbath to Sabbath to Sabbath ....
It's not a testament to the existence of moons or Sabbaths, just s use of them to express the foreverness of the situation.

Does that mean that in the second coming he's going to return as a female, in order to fulfil all of the Law?
Of course, Mary fulfilled these commandments, so the Catholics have an out. ;o)
Correct. If you have enough money, the state doesn't make you get car insurance. When you're young and naive you can rent an apartment without any insurance, gambling that nothing will get stolen.

Can you and have you kept the law withouit fail?
Whereas I believe that what we need is repentance and forgiveness. I don't see the sacrifice as necessary.
The law was broken, it HAS to be paid for or else God tells lies.
What does this really mean? Does that mean that the letter of the law doesn't need to be obeyed? Does that mean that one doesn't even need to try to obey the law?
It means the Holy Spirit will do it in our lifes if we yeild to Him.

Lol. I use this to point out that there are things in the law that don't pertain to us. But not a reason to throw the whole thing out as dispensationalists do. (oops, I meant ultra-dispensationalists) :-)
The commandments were meant to be obeyed. God imposed additional restrictions on sacrifice after Sinai. In addition, through the later prophets He revealed what He really wanted instead of sacrifice. There were no parallel modifications to the dietary laws.
I know what you think. I'm trying to figure out what SoothingMack thinks. ;o)
Its been a while since you had your @ss kicked, ain't it? :) BigMack
No. I am married you know. :-)
See post #51891.

Unless you don't count Jesus among the "later prophets." He was quite clear that "uncleanliness" did nto come from ingesting anything.

Since there are numberous models of heaven here on earth such as the earthly tabernacle etc. etc. etc. And also in Colossians it says that new moons, festivals and sabbath are a shadow of things to come, (notice it doesn't say a shadow of things past) I would say yes.
Shut up! He was about to leave to go to a bible study. :)

Me? Are you kidding? For much of my life I didn't even think that it applied to me. And I'm still studying and trying to learn. At the same time, I trust that God forgives my failings when I repent and seek forgiveness.
Judaism doesn't teach that man is inherently depraved. We choose to do good or evil, to obey or disobey. There is no reason that we cannot choose to obey the Law. First, we have to know what it is, and then we have to choose to do it.
The law was broken, it HAS to be paid for or else God tells lies.
It has to be paid for, but God accepts our repentance, prayer and return to obedience as sufficient.
It means the Holy Spirit will do it in our lifes if we yeild to Him.
Do you mean that the Holy Spirit will give you the grace to be able to follow the Law?
What Law do you believe you are supposed to obey?
Cool. Maybe you can share what you learn, along with further notes from your seminar. :o)
