Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |
Duh. It's not the Sabbath, which is Saturday. I have always said that the observance proper to the Sabbath has been transferred to Sunday. But we can't very well make Sunday the Sabbath any more than we can make Thursday Tuesday.

Throughout their generations. On earth.
You're not gonna tell me only jews will celebrate Sabbath in heaven?
Jews in Heaven? ;-)
Steven there are no days in heaven. There is no Sabbath or Friday or Monday.
We will celebrate in eternity the Wedding Feast of the Lamb, theat which was seen first as Passover, and then as Easter. These are all one and the same.

Fine. But you're not observing Sabbath.
Genesis 2 1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
And so now the Catholic church decides everyone should rest on the 1st day. God made the 7th day the Sabbath no reason for humans to change it.
I had some good news last week, my blood test showed I havent a cholesterol problem, or a sugar problem, but the Doctor recommended I loose some weight to keep it that way, so thats why Ive been working out more.
v. our discussion began when I read your post to CD, about Paul in 1 Cor 9:27 saying that, Paul says he can loose his salvation.
I posted #51,380, and 51,381, and you responded the next morning in post # 51,389 and failed to address a single scripture out of the 17 I had given you, so my study was a waste since they didnt seem to warrant a mention from you.
Thats why I didnt bother going into James 1:12, because I knew from that, you would ignore it also, but at least I got your attention, and then some. Lol
You seemed to take my silence as an admission I had no answer, so by those same standards I can assume thats why you didnt answer the 17 scriptures I gave you rebutting 1 Cor 9:29.
Okay, here is my answer to James 1:12, and if you fail to answer it, Ill assume you have no answer.
By the way, one of the scriptures I had asked you to explain what it meant to you that you ignored was ..
1 Cor 3:14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
Please dont look up someone elses answer, but search the Spirit for the answer, as I do. Now, back to James 1:12
v. - James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
There is more then one crown promised to us in the scripture, this particular one is for our perseverance and endurance over a long period of time. Another one is the crown of righteousness which Paul talks about in 2 Timothy, that Ill go into in a minute..
James is saying that when a man learns to resist temptation, he becomes strong, and when trials come along in his life, the strength he develops, will see him through these trials of life. Now, by coming through lifes trials, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Now notice this, .. the crown of life is not a pendant, or a badge, or symbol to show you have now been given eternal life, its a crown to show you endured earthly trials and temptations.
Now, theres another crown besides the one that James mentioned, 2 Timothy 4:8, Paul tells us that we have another crown besides the crown of life which is for enduring, and its called the crown of righteousness, and its given to those who love the Lord and love His appearing.
This would be the crown that welcomes us as part of the saved, those who are secure for eternity. I think of it as being similar to the Marines Basic Metal that all of us Marines received just because we were Marines.
2 Tim 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
This crown is different then the one for endurance, its given to those who have longed for His return, and then love His appearance. (Appearance/the advent of Christ)
There are several other crowns that will be given at the judgment, but these two cover the subject of which crown James and Paul were talking about.
So James is telling us that we will receive a crown for endurance, and Paul is telling us that everyone who has eternal life will receive the crown of righteousness. Both crowns are a token of our love for God, but one is a specific reward for hanging in there, and the other is for our faith that we would be given eternal life.

This is your last chance.

Yeah, unless we want to celebrate the Resurrection instead of the Old Covenant. We consider that to be important.
"No reason," he says.
SD
No days in heaven?
Dietary laws are not modified in the Hebrew scriptures after Sinai. The sacrificial laws are.
Instead of Old Covenant? We are celebrating creation. As God (the Messiah) told us to. Did the Messiah tell you to celebrate the ressurection every Sunday? We're supposed to do that daily.
That's what I said. The Scripture is expressing this eternity in this way.

For this commandment which I command you this day is not too hard for you... (Deuteronomy 30:11)
thats the reason we can't get to heaven on our own, we sin, sin cannot be in the presence of God
Now here we agree completely. The only way we can get to Heaven is by the grace of God. Nothing we do merits eternal life.
therefore our need for a sin bearer
Whereas I believe that what we need is repentance and forgiveness. I don't see the sacrifice as necessary.
the Holy Spirit works in us now to fufill the Spirit of the law, and the Spirit of the law is a far higher plain than the letter of the law
What does this really mean? Does that mean that the letter of the law doesn't need to be obeyed? Does that mean that one doesn't even need to try to obey the law?
I don't understand. My point is that they are external shows of what should be an internal obedience/repentence/etc. If the sacrifices, as signs of the inward reality are not needed, neither are the dietary laws, which are also external signs.

How can you look at that scripture with "new moons" and "Sabbath to Sabbath" and say there will be no days in heaven?
This is true of any insurance, not just life insurance.
Mack, you wanna make money, we should start our own insurance company.
LOL! ;o)
As I said before the letter of the law needs to be obeyed but because of the atonement the penalty for breaking the law is taken care of. We continuously keep trying to obey out of love for the Messiah.
