Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |
The ADA mandates braille on the keypads of the drive up ATM. The ADA keeps the narcopleptic employed as truck drivers. You simply can not fire a man for the consequences of his alcohol addiction.
And $1M a year can buy an awful lot of legal representation.
Um, they don't need to celebrate it as a "drinking holiday" if they don't want to.
That's different from saying Iowa is treeless. A good portion of my childhood was spent in northern Wisconsin, where trees are beautiful and plentiful. Iowa is a prairie state but not like Kansas or Nebraska. There are many forested areas in Iowa - but it's no northern Wisconsin or Pennsylvania.

Nah, that's just Philthadelphia.

Alcohol addiction is not necessarily a "disability" under the definition of the ADA. It can be in some cases and isn't in others. I would say in this case he will have difficulty demonstrating that his alcoholism prevented him from performing normal functions of daily life.
You forget our most cherished right not to be offended by anyone at any time.
(Unless of course, you are offended by homosexuals or abortion.)

Arboretively impaired?
This was the coach acting up at a party right? Well, I would sue the entertainment industry. After 30 years of movies and "Girls Gone Wild" it is entirely reasonable to expect that where there are college girls and beer, there would be some amount of sexual gratificatino to be had.

I think it was the Bob and Tom Productions' "Real Girls on Video going WHOOOOOO!" that did him in.
Are you talking about his coaching or, ummmmm ... other "functions"? ;o)
Yes. That's the point. Satan believes that we are better off being like God than in letting God be God. Wasn't that the serpent's statement? That God knows if we eat that fruit that we will be like Him? Satan wants to free us from bondage to God by making us like Him. He thinks this is good.
Are you sure of this ? Are you sure it's not ... Satan thinks that it would be good if he was God ?
Why do you think that he would have any inclination to share any power with us ? Why do you think that Satan cares anything about us ? Isn't it true that he lured us into disobeying God, with full knowledge that we really couldn't be God ? After all, he had tried and had gotten kicked out of heaven. Isn't it like he just wanted to take us down with him ?
Do you think anyone sets out in life to live a life of evil?
Most naturally, ... not from birth.
But, ... do I believe that some people, at some point ... do decide to live a life which disdains God's moral constraints ? Yes.
In fact, I believe that some (and this might include Satan) do decide to live a life which is as much in opposition to God's will as possible.
Not if you keep blabbin'!
I hope you're right.
You're confused. We don't suffer from a tree deficit, it only looks that way to those suffering form a paucity of corn:-)
I don't know. I don't think so. As Paul indicated many people will do wrong when they know better, because of their weakness.
But people who do evil systematically, I believe, are not aware that they are doing wrong. Seriously, if you thought that implementing policies that would eliminate an entire race of people was "wrong" would you do such a thing?

Heh-heh... This crowd is so vehemently convinced of the rightness of their positions, I don't worry at all about any of them checking into it (let alone believing it). ;O) ;O)
Seriously, if you thought that implementing policies that would eliminate an entire race of people was "wrong" would you do such a thing?
As a christian ... no.
As a non-christian, striving to have my way, no matter what anyone else thought about it, probably.
Have you never seen a child (or an adult, for that matter) disobey authority, for the sole purpose of defying that authority ?
We grow enough to keep our bellies full from the 4th of July till Labor Day. We're a modest people.
