The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.
Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |

Thank you. How easily people forget.Well it only took ya 16 hours to say they should be removed from the priesthood. That's all I wanted you to say when I posted those scriptures. Of course I suspect we disagree as to the speed in which they should be removed.

The manner in which you are presenting these cases doesn't seem to be calling for justice but for vengance. I disagree. How is 20 years served in prison for confessed murder "justice"? Justice implies some sort of balance between the crime and the punishment. For intentional homicide, the just punishment is death.

Those pedphile priests were obeying demons, therefore were/are slaves to demons. Black and white. Black and white. You want to be judged on black and white?
Keep it up and you will get your wish. Do you have no sin you struggle with?
I never said that these priests were "obeying" demons. you lie again. That's three times. Many things can influence a person. That doesn't mean they control him.
The NRA may influence certain memebers of Congress, but that doesn't mean they control them.

Do you have scriptural proof that these sayings are correct?

Of course I suspect we disagree as to the speed in which they should be removed. Immediately upon a credible charge pending investigation. Permanently upon service of all due process.
We are still a civilised people. We don't do lynch mobs.

Step 1 - Remove priest from priesthood Step 2 - Remove "manhood" from priest Works for me!

That's the funniest looking Harly I've ever seen ... On the plus side, though, a spill is not going to do nearly as much damage. ;o)

***"do you consider the writings of the church fathers to be authoritative?"***
No more than you or I.

Are you saying that those pedophile priests were acting in their own free will or were they possessed by the devil? Have you ever heard of "mitigating circumstances?" Yes, these men are exercising their will. That's why I said they woudl be held responsible.
However, they could have been influenced by other factors.
We have things in the secular law called crimes of passion. They recognize that people, while ultimately responsible, can sometimes be mitigaed by circumstances or emotions or other factors.
You seem to think that God will have none of that.

Your dark age superstitions oppose the Word of God. Good grief! What a blue nose.

It is indisputable that the concept of a written law travelled with the Church throughout Europe.

I disagree. How is 20 years served in prison for confessed murder "justice"? Justice implies some sort of balance between the crime and the punishment. For intentional homicide, the just punishment is death.I never said I agreed with the sentence, only with the presentation of the story which pulled at the heartstrings of the reader.

The very notion of a canon means that the Scriptures themselves are subject to a rule of faith.
