The manner in which you are presenting these cases doesn't seem to be calling for justice but for vengance.

I disagree. How is 20 years served in prison for confessed murder "justice"? Justice implies some sort of balance between the crime and the punishment. For intentional homicide, the just punishment is death.

I never said I agreed with the sentence, only with the presentation of the story which pulled at the heartstrings of the reader.

Remember the old concept of "legal" death? Life without parole is as good as death. But I would stipulate that a prisoner under such sentence and who escapes should be put to death if he escapes and is caught. The death penalty is needed as the final solution.
