The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

I completely agree with you. I don't see what the problem is?

Oh. I guess the problem was that I thought you were pointing out those verses as examples of some that Fundies were guilty of treating inappropriately.

Nevermind. :-)

Not that I'm aware of. With some of the newer drives you can drag and drop - handling like a regular disc for copying; but, I'm not aware of any that allow download to cd. Then again, I've never tried it. One thing is for sure, you'd have to use a rewriteable cd and leave the session open by default to make this practical.

You specifically asked for verses that Fundies took literally that were "cute". I'm sure there are more... I just had a hard time coming up with cute verses.

These are certainly two of the... oh.... dozen or so verses that you guys get right. :-)

I prefer Adobe EZ cd creator; but, Nero is another good utility if you don't like what comes with the drive.

I think you mean Adaptec (now Roxio) Easy CD Creator, which was my top choice until Roxio goofed it up to the max (version 5 is awful; it hosed my Windows 2000 system and is incapable of completely uninstalling itself!).

Nero 4 -- which came with my new burner -- is wonderful. I've done music, data, MP3 and Video CDs of all sorts.

Credit is also due the Verbatim drive; it's much, MUCH better than the Polaroid it replaced. I've also had great results with HP burners. They just don't go on sale at OfficeMax like the Verbatims do.

By the way, for downloading free music (legally, of course), I hear mp3.com is great.

Matthew 16:18-19 "And I tell you, you are Peter and on THIS ROCK I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound to heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Now this was Jesus talking, so this rock was referring to something else. "I don't recall" seeing I am the Rock or Jesus is the Rock. Do you? Let's break down "Sacrament of Reconciliation"... "Sacrament"-An visible sign of God's invisible grace. You could use Process of Reconciliation, Act of Reconciliation, etc.

DON'T GET PICKY ABOUT THE WORD "SACRAMENT!" "Reconciliation"-Please don't ell me because they use repent in the Bible, you can't use its synonym-reconcile. Matthew 16:18-19 "And I tell you, you are PETER AND ON THIS ROCK I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound to heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Whatever you consider rock is, I consider it a leader (just an inclination), and in this situation, it sounds like, what was that, do I hear a "Vicar of Christ" (another name for the Pope)? For some reason I could not paragragh where I should.

Okay then, instead of "pointing me in the right path," tell me why fundamentalism is the "right path."

I think you may be mistaken, but when Peter and what not were referring to repent and Baptize, it could be give up your sins and get baptized. Now you can see where so many interpretations comes from. So at the same time, Mark 6:12-13 "...cast out many demons...," says that there were evils or "sins" taken out of men, this comes almost right after the word repent.

Yo Mr. Antilib. Why don't you go back and review all the threads in the Neverending Story from the past couple of years. You'll find that almost all of what you think are revelations have been shot down in here. It'll save the rest of us some time. :-)

Quester, Jesus specifically singled out Peter (which would indicate a single, MAIN authority (not all). And take this analogy-If you but leave a house at a stand still, the elments like the wind would push and the wooden planks may become weak, therfore needing maintenance.

Did you see this on that website?

Jerome (340-420 AD) tells us

"Matthew,30 also called Levi, apostle and aforetimes publican, composed a gospel of Messiah at first published in Judea in Hebrew31 for the sake of those of the circumcision who believed, but this was afterwards translated into Greek though by what author is uncertain.

They have to be 4 to compete she is 3. She is also my daughters horse. I don't like sharing horses, it never fails that a competition will fall on a weekend the other person needs the horse. I don't want to keep another horse up here. So it's either get rid of Rusty and get another, or give up competing. If I can find someone that will go with me on trips to trail ride I'll do that. The problem is finding someone who can go or wants to go just for pleasure. I enjoy rideing by myself around here. But I don't think it would be safe to camping and trail riding in state parks by myself. That means Mack has to go. But it's not fair to ask him to go and he not have anything to do while I am out riding. Hence the beauty of having these friends go.

I appreciate your position Reg. I could admittedly be wrong, but I've been down that path and found it unwise. That is the reason I err to caution. I don't want to marry a non-christian. But I did admittedly stop as soon as I found out what she does for a living. I just have no use for dating a non-christian and that was my perception as soon as the word 'dancer' came in. I'd personally love to see every dancer find something else to do for a living. It's an extremely damaging lifestyle. Making a note. At any rate, prayers and suggestions on this subject always welcome. I'm good with people in general but blind when it comes to dating.

If the following is true what am I reading at that website? :-)

Gospel of the Hebrews (Egypt, mid 2nd century CE) All that survives to us from the 'Gospel of the Hebrews' are several quotations made by Clement, Origen, Jerome, and Cyril of Jerusalem. Jerome took a lively interest in this book, an Aramaic copy of which he found in the famous library at Caesarea in Palestine. More than once he tells us (and with great pride) that he made translations of it into Greek and Latin. Unfortunately, these translations have been lost.

Sheesh, a guy leaves for a couple of days and finds he's got about 300-400 posts to catch up on. Moreover, I've got only a little time this afternoon to freep. But I just can't let this one pass.

Havoc to CindyDawg: "You'll find I'm the one of the closest things to kryptonite to these guys."

Uh Havoc, you sure you want to stick with this simile?

First, kryptonite was only lethal to Superman, the ultimate force for good in Metropolis. (A role I'm sure all us Catholics would be willing to play.-)

Second, kryptonite was always the means used by the forces of evil to try to bring down Superman so that they could carry off their nefarious plans.

And, finally, despite possessing kryptonite, the forces of evil were just never quite able to bring it off and bring down Superman. Good always triumphed in the end. And, interestingly, quite often what led to the forces of evil ultimate demise was often a misplaced sense of pride.

In Acts the repent and be baptized came right after Peter's sermon explaining who Jesus was.

I also did not mean to imply that that is the only verse were repent could be misinterprated.
