The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

When you talk about dancers, are you talking about girls swinging around poles, ballet, 2 step or what? My husband and I dance occasionally (but only with each other)and I like to twirl the babies around the room. I don't see anything wrong with that.

I'm talking about Pole dancers unfortuneatly. If I were talking about ballet, 2 step, ect, there'd be no problem LOL. I'm not aware of any Biblical foundation against dancing. Though, I respect parental rights to forbid it amongst their children. That's not entirely unwarranted. I can tell you a few stories; but, they amount to bumping into people in everyday life - twice on or near my own property. I met one a month before I bought my new house while her sister was moving in across the street from my old place. She was beautiful and somewhat taken with me - which should have been a clue that something was wrong LOL.

When you talk about gold diggers are you talking about girls that expect you to pay for a date or ones that want to hold your wallet?

Sharing the cost of a date is dutch and makes me mildly uncomfortable; but, I can live with it. I prefer paying for a date. Gold diggers are interested in a man only on the basis of how much he makes - the more the better. And they largely are looking to see how much of it he'll come loose of while they're shopping for the next one. I could go on and on about this. They don't really want to hold your wallet - that doesn't matter to them, that it's empty and all going to them, that is the goal. And they are not always that easy to spot right off the bat. They often hide behind an appearance of traditional romanticism to ply themselves. Not an unfamiliar subject when discussing religions I might note..

You might want to just start asking God to send you a wife and let him set the conditions. I have to warn you though, that I think He has a sense of humor:')

God does have a sense of humor, he doesn't often joke with me though. He's usually quite serious. As when my home burnt to the ground. I had assistance from places I'd have never imagined. I lost everything and was given a new home - given. That came through prayer and was not specifically sought - ie I didn't say 'God I need a home, please give me one.' No, as a family we prayed that God provide a way for me in the face of the loss. The day after my home burnt I was given a mobile home. The same day a friend showed up and asked for my resume'. I'd been working in a commissioned sales environment and had no money because of the time of year and the fact that I was still paying off medical bills from having been gravely ill 5 months prior. A week after my home burned, I was hired to a salaried position where I'm surrounded by Christians and the management I have the pleasure to work with is the best I've ever worked for bar none. I largely have managed to get back everything I lost and three years later am in far better shape than before the fire. It is unending. I had no established credit because I didn't buy a car as a teen (couldn't drive one), and I don't believe in using credit cards. I bought my home with no money down and just made my third payment two days ago. Yeah, God does have a sense of humor; but, he is serious about mercy. I've seen a great deal of it. It is the devil that largely likes to play jokes - and they are usually not real funny till you look back at how they were overcome.

Oh, I've been here everyday, just not much too say, believe it or not:)

Actually I have been riding alot. I just got in now from a ride. Looks like rain:( I am competing at the end of May, so I'm getting ready. Also been giving riding lessons to a friend. Her husband rides motorcycles with Mack. They are the only friends we have ever had that are in the same postion we are, no kids, self employed, so are able to come and go. Well I told Debbie if she learned to ride horses (She is not the big on the motorcycle thing, but is an outdoor type) then we could all take a week and go camping with the horses, the guys could take their motorcycles and while they ride we could ride. But she has to get where she can do at least 3 hours or so. She's up to 1 1/2. She is having trouble with one of her Knees starting to hurt real bad.

Also been spraying weeds in the pasture, and working on my garden. But in between times I come in and check on everyone.

How's your weather?

Hey did you and your wife get to read that book I sent you?

Becky

I'm not sure.

This may be the most honest answer I've ever gotten to this question! :o)

That sounds like fun!

How's your weather?

Very nice this week. Sunny and seasonal temps around 60.

Hey did you and your wife get to read that book I sent you?

No, but I'm reading it. I figured the best way would be for me to read it first, and then discuss it with her. Or, I might just 'accidentally' leave it laying out. ;o)

Okay, I'll play along.

The kingdom of heaven is -- literally -- like a mustard seed. (It's only if you remove the word "like" that the literal interpretation is problematic.)

As for the second verse you referenced, I see no problem with taking it literally. Obviously, beyond the narrow, literal meaning, it has wider application.

I completely agree with you. I don't see what the problem is?

I just thought they were cute verses.

Yeah, they are gungho campers, and I have wanted to go camping, even if I don't take the horses, ever since we got the RV. Our vacation was fun, but it was so busy running to all the tourists sites. I want to go and just lay around under the trees, no phone, no housework, etc.

Also, I am having doubts that my horse is going to make it as a competion horse. He's sweating but not alot, and his respiration shoots up pretty high, and dosen't come down fast enough. The ride at the end of May is going to be kind of a test. He is so good, that even if he doesn't make it competing I want to keep him, so I'm going to have to find another way to go trail riding. Everyone else I ride with is always in the conditioning mode, and besides their husbands have nothing in common with Mack so it wouldn't work going with them for a pleasure ride. The pleasure rideing I have been doing with Debbie has really been fun and relaxing. So I am getting ready mentally to having to give up competing. But it might not be so bad:)

What does it say to -all of us- about anything you feel Catholics are in error on?

Ecclesiastes 9:1 For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, [are] in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred [by] all [that is] before them.

[2] All [things come] alike to all: [there is] one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as [is] the good, so [is] the sinner; [and] he that sweareth, as [he] that feareth an oath.

[3] This [is] an evil among all [things] that are done under the sun, that [there is] one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness [is] in their heart while they live, and after that [they go] to the dead.

[4] For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.

[5] For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

[6] Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any [thing] that is done under the sun.

You'll note that this entire discussion is premised on the fact that it matters not whether you are evil or righteous, the same fate befalls all men. Period. The place of existance after death therefore is of no consequence. Physical life and Spiritual life are two seperate things just as spiritual death and physical death are two seperate things. This passage is telling us that regardless of Spiritual considerations, upon physical death we have nothing more to do with anything that happens under the sun. IE, the dead grandmother cannot dwell on earth, affect anything on earth, hear, see or smell anything on earth, ect. because it is forbidden.

Now, noting that, it makes all your philosophy and reasoning about praying to the dead - moot.. about praying to Mary - moot. About praying to other saints - moot. There are countless scriptures that forbid it on it's face to begin with; but, this passage states there is nothing to be gained from even attempting it because there can be no interaction between us and those who have gone before us.

Chapter 8 sets this up with a discussion of all that is done while men are yet physically alive and the rammifications of their living pursuits. There is no place to interject any assumptions about spiritual life or death into this. That is dealt with and passed over by saying all things happen to both and the common fate is included - physical death which includes an inability to interact further with the physically living - period. QED.

You can download music right off the web. Or you can get a share based utility like the napster clone Kazaa. Burning cds requires a cd burner of course and most come with the necessary software. I prefer Adobe EZ cd creator; but, Nero is another good utility if you don't like what comes with the drive.

Can you burn straight from the web to a cd and forget the downloading?

Don't be too fast to write someone off because of their "occupation". There is a reason why they are where they are. What is in her heart? What is her future? That is what is important.

I am not aying it is an evil country, because for a country to be evil, its very belief has to be evil. However, there are many passages in the Bible that can clearly match with an evil PART of America.

Catholics don't go around evangilizing saying "Mary was assumed into heaven body and soul," so why do fundamentalists attack something that the Church doesn't use as a soapbox.

How about that colt of yours? The one you imprinted? ;o) How old do they need to be before they can compete?
