Wrong. I once was lost but now I'm found. The Ruach Ha kodesh started this whole business.
I pity the poor sap that has to wash my feet. :-)
I believe this is also called the wave sheaf offering. The wave sheaf offering in the old testament corresponds to Jesus's rising to the father on the day following his resurrection just before the sabbath ended.
Here's the scripture from the OT:
Lev 23:10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest:
Lev 23:11 And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.
Lev 23:12 And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the LORD.
Lev 23:13 And the meat offering thereof [shall be] two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the LORD [for] a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof [shall be] of wine, the fourth [part] of an hin.
Lev 23:14 And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: [it shall be] a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
Here's a good article from The Good News magazine that goes into detail about the wave sheaf.
Yes. There is a wave offering on the feast of firstfruits, I should have mentioned that.
Sorry...I had nobody else to pick on today... :-)
IUCUNDA SEMPER EXPECTATIONE
ENCYCLICAL OF POPE LEO XIII
ON THE ROSARY
September 8, 1894
The recourse we have to Mary in prayer follows upon the office she continuously fills by the side of the throne of God as Mediatrix of Divine grace...
When she professed herself the handmaid of the Lord for the mother's office, and when, at the foot of the altar, she offered up her whole self with her Child Jesus-then and thereafter she took her part in the laborious expiation made by her Son for the sins of the world. It is certain, therefore, that she suffered in the very depths of her soul with His most bitter sufferings and with His torments. Moreover, it was before the eyes of Mary that was to be finished the Divine Sacrifice for which she had borne and brought up the Victim. As we contemplate Him in the last and most piteous of those Mysteries, there stood by the Cross of Jesus His Mother, who, in a miracle of charity, so that she might receive us as her sons, offered generously to Divine Justice her own Son, and died in her heart with Him, stabbed with the sword of sorrow...
Thus is confirmed that law of merciful meditation of which We have spoken, and which St. Bernardine of Siena thus expresses: "Every grace granted to man has three degrees in order; for by God it is communicated to Christ, from Christ it passes to the Virgin, and from the Virgin it descends to us."
For this cause do we repeatedly celebrate those glorious titles of her ministry as Mediatrix...
Yes, we fly to thee, we miserable children of Eve, O holy Mother of God. To thee we lift our prayers, for thou art the Mediatrix, powerful at once and pitiful, of our salvation. Oh, by the sweetness of the joys that came to thee from thy Son Jesus, by thy participation in His ineffable sorrows, by the splendours of His glory shining in thee, we instantly beseech thee, listen, be pitiful, hear us, unworthy though we be! ...
AD DIEM ILLUM LAETISSIMUM
ENCYCLICAL OF POPE PIUS X
ON THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
TO THE PATRIARCHS, PRIMATES, ARCHBISHOPS,
BISHOPS, AND OTHER ORDINARIES
IN PEACE AND COMMUNION WITH THE APOSTOLIC SEE.
February 2, 1904
But, since Divine Providence has been pleased that we should have the Man-God through Mary, who conceived Him by the Holy Ghost and bore Him in her breast, it only remains for us to receive Christ from the hands of Mary...
Mary not only preserved and meditated on the events of Bethlehem and the facts which took place in Jerusalem in the Temple of the Lord, but sharing as she did the thoughts and the secret wishes of Christ she may be said to have lived the very life of her Son...
Hence it follows, as We have already pointed out, that the Virgin is more powerful than all others as a means for uniting mankind with Christ. Hence too since, according to Christ Himself, "Now this is eternal life: That they may know thee the only truly God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent" (John xvii., 3), and since it is through Mary that we attain to the knowledge of Christ, through Mary also we most easily obtain that life of which Christ is the source and origin...
When the supreme hour of the Son came, beside the Cross of Jesus there stood Mary His Mother, not merely occupied in contemplating the cruel spectacle, but rejoicing that her Only Son was offered for the salvation of mankind, and so entirely participating in His Passion, that if it had been possible she would have gladly borne all the torments that her Son bore (S. Bonav. 1. Sent d. 48, ad Litt. dub. 4). And from this community of will and suffering between Christ and Mary she merited to become most worthily the Reparatrix of the lost world (Eadmeri Mon. De Excellentia Virg. Mariae, c. 9) and Dispensatrix of all the gifts that Our Savior purchased for us by His Death and by His Blood...
We are then, it will be seen, very far from attributing to the Mother of God a productive power of grace - a power which belongs to God alone. Yet, since Mary carries it over all in holiness and union with Jesus Christ, and has been associated by Jesus Christ in the work of redemption, she merits for us de congruo, in the language of theologians, what Jesus Christ merits for us de condigno, and she is the supreme Minister of the distribution of graces. Jesus "sitteth on the right hand of the majesty on high" (Hebrews i. b.). Mary sitteth at the right hand of her Son - a refuge so secure and a help so trusty against all dangers that we have nothing to fear or to despair of under her guidance, her patronage, her protection...
Those, alas! furnish us by their conduct with a peremptory proof of it, who seduced by the wiles of the demon or deceived by false doctrines think they can do without the help of the Virgin...
Then the love of God with which she burned made her a partaker in the sufferings of Christ and the associate in His passion; with him moreover, as if forgetful of her own sorrow, she prayed for the pardon of the executioners although they in their hate cried out: "His blood be upon us and upon our children"...
More to come...
I was getting too out of control at work. I severely limit myself unless it's something that's kind of important, or a quick note about something. But it sure made the day go faster. :-)
No joke. You should have seen the size of the Mogan David bottle on my table at the passover the other night. Actually there were 500 people sitting at tables at our passover. 8 per table. There's nothing like a Messianic Jewish feast of the passover.
Sheesh, why do they have to talk about her breasts all the time. :-)
You sadly miss the whole point, as SD might say. Our argument with you isn't about which Bible translation you use, it's because you don't believe in any Bible authority over your Hierarchy.
So you never put their feet to the fire and demand truth. If you did, you would make them account for why they've lied to you folks about Good Friday being the day Jesus was crucified just as a starter.
Yet no one seems interested in this topic.
You just answered your own question, "no one seems interested in this topic" Lol
Further, no Protestant has yet addressed my invitation to consider Havoc's rather (at least to me) novel proposition that John the Baptist was Elijah literally reincarnated.
Havoc is certainly capable of making his own points, and if he wants to use you guys as a sounding board, its fine with me.
Remember, we NCs dont put everyone in a box, we have room for all kinds of new ideas, as long as it doesnt interfere with the necessary things in the Gospel of salvation.
If what he says is truth, it wont be long before others will be talking about it, and it may end up on other Google searches, or in someones commentary some day, but if not, well forget all about it in time.
Havoc assures us he only uses God's Word and is guided in his reading of God's Word solely by the Holy Spirit -in other words, that he is the archetypical Protestant. Using this method, he has determined that John the Baptist is Elijah in a 'new body.' Frankly, I find the silence of Protestants on this point somewhat surprising.
And your Church makes the same claims, but I never hear any of you question it, and I believe the Holy Spirit works in Havoc and each of us as much or more, then in your leaders.
If Havoc had a few million people waiting to believe anything that came out of his mouth, theyd be astonished at the great truths Hed give them. Lol
All I would like to know is if they agree with Havoc.
I have no beliefs in the matter, and it appears no other NC have either, so its up to you guys, to blow the dust off your Bible and prove him wrong, and if anyone is staying at a motel in the future, you might pick up a Gideon for your newbee tHe AnTiLiB.
Dont worry about taking it, we help support them. Lol

angelo, until you understand and accept this you will always have problems with Christ being God.
The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner [Ps. 118:22].
The stone in this verse refers to Christ Himself. Our Lord in Matthew 21:42 made that clear: Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lords doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? First Peter 2:68 says, Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. The stone is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Leviticus teaches that the way to God is by sacrifice. The word atonement occurs 45 times in this book. Atonement means to cover up. The blood of bulls and goats did not actually take away sin. It covered over sin until Christ came to take away all sins. This is what Paul is referring to in Romans 3:25: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.
The sins that are past are the sins back in the Old Testament. You see, God never accepted the blood of bulls and goats as the final payment for sin, but He required that blood be shed. It was an atonement to cover over the sins until Christ came. In other words, God saved on credit in the Old Testament. When Christ came, as the hymn accurately states it, Jesus paid it all. This is true as far as the past is concerned, and as far as the present is concerned, and as far as the future is concerned.
One of the key verses in Leviticus, dealing with atonement, is found in Leviticus 17:11, For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. The way to God is by sacrifice and without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins.
Do His promises to Israel no longer stand?
But Israel shall be saved in the Lord with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end [Isa. 45:17].
Israels salvation is everlasting. God says, Yes, you are going to be judged, Israel. You are going to Babylon, but you are going to return to the land. Rebellion is still in your heart, but ultimately I am going to save you. He is speaking of the nation of Israel being saved, not individual people.

lol...got a good story about Mrs. DouglasKC from last year.
Last year was the first foot washing and Lord's supper I took part in because i had just been baptized in January. Mrs. DouglasKC hadn't yet been baptized at that time.
So unbaptized people can't take the bread and wine because of course what it symbolizes, but taking part in the footwashing is okay.
Well we didn't know that unbaptized people could do the footwashing so I cleaned my feet really good before hand, but my wife didn't think she was going to participate so she just wore the nylons and shoe's she been wearing all day at work. Not a very pretty smell. :-)
So of course everyone wants her to take part in the foot washing. Luckily they understood her plight and she went into the bathroom first and got to wash her feet. :-)
lol...some of the stories I've heard would kill ya...
Only in the world you live in with blinders on.
