The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

We also have a state income tax that is around 3 percent, with no real deductions possible.

Believe it or not, the state income tax in Wisconsin is actually graduated. It starts at 4.6% and goes up to a high of 6.75%. And even the lowest income citizens pay something.

And such pleasures as annual local per capita taxes, and the annual tax for the "privlege" of working in a community.

Unbelievable. They always find some way to extract their pound of flesh.

Horrible time to be selling a house, folks. Most of the ones in our area are having to drop their prices a lot.

Good luck.

John 6:28-29 Then said they unto him What shall we do that we might work the work of God. Jesus answered and said unto them This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Roms.10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved.

God has given us free choice to accept or reject the gift, once we accept He does not take it back. Yes the faith we need to accept is a gift from God.

Eph. 2:8 We are savaed by grace thru faith and that not of ourselves it is a gift from God.

I know/believe that God does what he says he will do. By faith I acted on this belief (accepted salvation) and was saved.

Is belief itself a grace?

Question: Can you say that you are 100% for sure that you don't believe that Jesus is God incarnate?

Again ... don't use 1800flowers if you want it done right. and definitely do not use their .com to order ... you'll forever be on their email list and they won't take you off no matter how hard you beg 'em. I'm about ready to call the BBB on 'em for that.

I wouldn't want to appear disrespectful to one of my elders or anything, but hey stupid! You're sitting at a computer and there are various online flower vendors including 1800flowers.com.

LOL. Well, we had the discussion again last night about a condo. And there aint no way. Nix on the flowers. :-)

I know. Certainly is a buyers market. We started high 348,000. Knowing full well we'll probably end up with about 341,000.

I may be getting into something here that I am not sure of, but I will make a stab at it. I believe if, say for instance you, (that is what we are talking about right) You are not sure but you think it may be true that Jesus is God incarnate come to save the lost by His sacrifice. I believe if by faith you act on that even if you have doubts (which BTW, we all do at times, that is Satan), and continue by faith to act on God's promises He will increase your beliefs and give you peace about it. Acting on faith would be to continue to study His Word and accept it by faith.

Roms. 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

Lenten Weekday
First Reading:
Responsorial Psalm:
Gospel:
Jeremiah 20:10-13
Psalm 18:2-7
John 10:31-42

Now there stood by the cross of Jesus, his mother and his mother's sister, Mary of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalen. When Jesus therefore had seen his mother and the disciple standing whom he loved, he saith to his mother: Woman, behold thy son. After that, he saith to the disciple: Behold thy mother. And from that hour, the disciple took her to his own.

 -- John xix. 25-27

The following is, as usual, from The Word Among Us:

A priest who was a professor at a Catholic university was very sick in bed one day, when a student who was also sick suddenly entered his room. Doubled over in pain, the student asked the priest to pray with him. Summoning the little strength he had, the priest placed his hands on the boy's head and said, "Jesus, heal him." Instantly, the student's pain disappeared. Still feeling miserable, the priest collapsed on his bed, amazed. It was a startling demonstration of the healing power of Jesus in our world—the same power by which Jesus performed the "Father's works" two thousand years ago (John 10:37).

Jesus told his hearers that even if they did not believe in him because of his words, they should believe in him because of works like these (John 10:38). Can you believe that Jesus wants his miraculous works to be revealed even today so that people might turn to him? What's more, can you accept the possibility that Jesus may want to demonstrate his works today through you? Yes, you! The Holy Spirit has given you gifts, and he wants you to use them in making Jesus present in this world.

Most of us have a tendency to feel inadequate when someone points out a possibility like this. Yet just as Jesus worked to heal a student through the weakness of a college president, so Jesus can work through your weaknesses to reveal his powerful works. Perhaps he will use you to heal people of their physical illnesses. Maybe he will use you to deliver people from bitterness, fears, or doubts. How will you know unless you accept his gifts? Jesus wants to use your hands, your voice, and your heart to reach out and heal the hurts of people today.

Why not take a few "baby steps" this week to reach out to someone you know who needs healing? Offer to pray with that person, and trust that the Lord will use you. You may see immediate results, and you may not. Jesus often touches people inwardly in ways we cannot detect. In one sense, it doesn't matter. Just tell Jesus that you're willing, and he will work through you!

"Jesus, help me to use the gifts that you have given me. I want to see your love heal many people so that they may come to believe in you."

----------

God bless.

AC

Question: Can you say that you are 100% for sure that you don't believe that Jesus is God incarnate?

In the orthodox Christian sense, yes, I am 100% sure. I think he was a righteous man, a prophet, who "incarnated" God in the sense that his will and spirit were one with God, and I think his followers saw this in him. I think he was a son of God in the sense Paul describes in Romans 8:14.

I don't believe in a second person of a triune God, eternally begotten of the Father, born of a virgin, "Word made flesh" kind of incarnation.
