A controversial linen shroud - regarded by some to be the one Jesus was buried in - has baffled the world for more than centuries.
When it was first exhibited in the 1350s, the Shroud of Turin was touted as the actual burial shroud used to wrap the mutilated body of Christ after his crucifixion.
Also known as the Holy Shroud, it bears a faint image of the front and back of a bearded man, which many believers is Jesus' body miraculously imprinted onto the fabric.
But research in the 1980s appeared to debunk the idea it was real after dating it to the Middle Ages, hundreds of years after Christ's death.
Now, Italian researchers who used a new technique involving x-rays to date the material have confirmed it was manufactured around the time of Jesus about 2,000 years ago.
They say the fact the timelines add up lends credence to the idea that the faint, bloodstained pattern of a man with his arms folded in front were left behind by Jesus' dead body.
The Bible states that Joseph of Arimathea wrapped the body of Jesus in a linen shroud and placed it inside the tomb.
Matthew 27:59-60 reads: 'Then Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a new linen cloth. He put Jesus’ body in a new tomb that he had dug in a wall of rock. Then he closed the tomb by rolling a very large stone to cover the entrance. After he did this, he went away.'
The burial cloth has captivated the imagination of historians, church chiefs, skeptics and Catholics since it was first presented to the public in the 1350s.
French knight Geoffroi de Charny gave it to the dean of the church in Lirey, France, proclaiming it as the Holy Shroud.

And the number of the counting shall be three.
And the number of the counting shall be three.
Unless thou double post, of course.
Yes.
Not to mention that on the alleged shroud, there is a frontal image rather than a whole-body one, that of course should not include a face, a non-mutilated one at that.
That’s no ordinary rabbit. That’s the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on!
The Sudarium blood matches the blood stains on the Holy Shroud. They allow us to witness the living Christ, just like those lucky folks in the first century.
I’m not going to dive too deeply into the discussion this time, since nursery school is in session, given the boorish and foolish comments of many. Just to comment you’re off by a few hundred years: Christ Poncrator is an icon from a monastery in the Sinai, 6th century, where Jesus is depicted just as he appears in the shroud, including the eyes being of different sizes…. Because one of his eyes as shown in the shroud is swollen from his being beaten.
I have read two good size books on the Shroud and I’ve believed it is Jesus’ shroud. So many different ways scientists have tried and could not disprove it. Science keeps saying “we are not 100 percent sure”, Jesus says this is My shroud. There are things more then the Shroud it’s, but where it came from and many more events concerning the past of the Shroud. Everyone who wonders should read the current books on what has been found.
I’d rather have Jesus in my heart than some relic on display.
We know from Scripture that Jesus was tortured and disfigured. I think if this shroud was real it would show the image of the description found in Scripture to be the image of a disfigured and tortured man.
Joseph of Arimathea would be amazed it’s still around. Thank you, Joseph.
John Morresy even wrote a Sci-Fi novel about that topic

I understand it came from Antioch. And do not continue to five.
I must say to all, if you have not read all the history and science found about the Shroud, don’t presume to know anything about it. Science and history can reveal a lot of things that we don’t know.

It's like they knew he'd be back.
Seperate, as in on a shelf?
May the Angel removed the face mask before the resurrection?
Carbon dating works if the sample is not contaminated. The shroud sample that was taken for radio carbon dating was contaminated with cotton and other and gum dye mordant.

The history is fascinating.
The shroud is authentic, clearly miraculous.
“Those who don’t want to believe won’t even if Jesus Himself appeared to Him and did miracles right to their face.”

Maybe you should try to understand their point of view - then and since. They were/are following their God-given Holy Scriptures:
Deuteronomy 13:1-4:
“1. Everything I command you that you shall be careful to do it. You shall neither add to it, nor subtract from it.
2. If there will arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of a dream, and he gives you a sign or a wonder,
3. and the sign or the wonder of which he spoke to you happens, [and he] says, “Let us go after other gods which you have not known, and let us worship them,”
4. you shall not heed the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of a dream; for the Lord, your God, is testing you, to know whether you really love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul.”
What’s most amazing about the Shroud is that is a negative. That means nobody saw the real face or any of the markings on the shroud until the invention of photography. That means that if it was a fraud, the artist would be thinking “in a thousand years, people are going to invent cameras and see my art piece!”
