However it is compelled upon the earth, it will include full knowledge by the recipient that this is a declaration of allegiance to a new global, anti-Creator, man made, religious and financial system. The declaration will be blasphemy against God’s Spirit, as this is the only unforgivable sin, as stated in the Bible and the mark results in unforgivable sin.
The event which could initiate this might be compete global financial meltdown, resulting in a strongman rising to power to solve the global problem.

I believe that the great apostasy has started and is being pushed by the LGBT community. The "mark" will be the acceptance of homosexuality.
I agree that it would take a global catalyst to initiate this. Something that everyone would be keenly aware of. It could be financial, environmental (think global earthquakes or tornadoes or something unnatural) or a pandemic (real one, not the fake Fauci kind) that wipes out a third of mankind.

The clues from the Bible is that the Mark is how one asserts their authority. God doesn’t force people to follow Him, but man or Satan does. Digital currency, QR codes or whatever else are the means to the enforcement of authority but they aren’t the mark themselves.

I believe its a decision. People will decide which side they’re on and that’s the ‘seal’. Just like the seal of the Holy Spirit is not visible to the carnal eye; the mark of the enemy isn’t either.

If God wanted us to know exactly what these marks were or what they look like, he would have told us clearly instead of of leaving each generation of Christians over the centuries to speculate on it depending on the cultural norms and technology of their times. Instead, when that time comes, his own will know what it is. There will be no speculating or doubt.
