Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father,
Who Art in Heaven,
How Blessed,
How Glorious,
How Wonderful,
Is Your Most Holy Name!
How Mighty and Perfect is Your Word,
And Your Promise,
Which You have allowed us a glimpse
into Your Perfect Will!
You, The Everlasting,
The Omnipotent,
The Immortal and Eternal,
Not Bound By Time or Space,
because You Created it,
Your Ways are not our ways,
And yet we hunger and thirst for You,
like a thirsty little deer panting in the forest,
seeking a bubbling spring for a fresh sip of water!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

________________________

Like the fictional Sheldon from the TV show "The Big Bang Theory", I seem to have been blessed (?) with a form of Eidetic memory. Although what goes on in my head is different from the description in Wikipedia, I remember events as if they are little videos. This comes in handy when playing Trivial Pursuit, as proven last night with my sister. Since each correct answer earns the player another turn, I kept going round and round, and got all my wedges in no time at all. Then I landed on BROWN which is Literature. Sis pulled out the card, quickly discarded it, and pulled out another. It was a question about a Dickens novel which I had never read. I didn't get the right answer, and then it was her turn.

"What was on that other card?" I wanted to know.

"Oh I couldn't ask you THAT!" she replied. "It was from the BIBLE! And you read EIGHT CHAPTERS A DAY! You probably knew where it was on the page!"

Since it was a friendly game, and we have more fun making silly remarks than actually answering questions, I let it go, because I won anyway. Ha Ha.

This "gift" is very useful when doing a four-hour-gig. Remembering Song Lyrics, keys, tempi, chord progressions, and settings on my instrument, are all dependent on having a good memory and easy access to it. But, sometimes, these "Little Videos" cause me great anguish. I can still recall stupid, mean, obnoxious things that I have done or said, and still feel the emotions that I experienced when I said them (These sins are mostly verbal, as I have a BIG MOUTH). Even if the event was over 65 YEARS ago, I can still feel the embarrassment, guilt, or shame associated with it. Thank God for His Forgiveness, His Grace, and His Peace.

Just Yesterday, while riding my bike, I had a weird moment when a "Little Video" started playing about a mean thing I said in 1960. I was too preoccupied operating the vehicle to fight it, and so the "Little Video" kept rolling. As a passed a Tree by the side of the road, my eyes registered a hand-written sign, with large letters:

MATT:11:28-30.

My mind accessed the Page in my Study Bible and found this:

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Now that I have shared my weird mental process with you, it will be easier to understand the details of my story today.

In 1981, I sat down in the dining room (with Blue Denim Wallpaper and a Laura Ashley Border) and opened my Bible (Black, Pew-sized NASB Bonded Leather) and started reading the New Testament for the first time. After slogging through the Genealogy, I came across the Nativity Story, the Visits of the Magi, The Slaughter of the Innocents, and the Flight into Egypt. Then I hit this verse. Matthew was quoting the Old Testament to verify the New Testament. There was a footnote linking this Passage to someone I had never heard of "Hosea". So I checked it out. (Hosea 11:1). Here, the Prophet speaks of Israel being brought out of Egypt. That didn't make sense to me. Matthew was talking about Jesus, and Hosea was talking about Israel. How could they be connected?

At the time I just shrugged and said "Oh Well", and kept reading. But it bothered me that Matthew would quote an Old Testament Scripture that didn't seem entirely relevant, especially since, even after the incredible miracles of the Exodus, Israel kept on sinning. Hosea says that in the next verse. We see miracles all the time and keep on sinning too. Even my "Little Videos" of past sin are an affront to God. He has forgiven those sins and buried them. Why do I keep digging them up?

Thankfully, God is not only in the business of Forgiving, He is also Restoring. It's one thing to forgive somebody from afar and no longer hold a grudge, but it is a whole new level to restore the sinner into fellowship with genuine love.

Jesus calls us OUT of Egypt. He calls us to Forgiveness and Restoration. STOP the Videos. Do NOT REWIND.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 34

Of David, when he feigned madness before Abimelech, so that he drove him out, and he went away.

1 I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
3 O magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together.

4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me,
and delivered me from all my fears.
5 Look to him, and be radiant;
so your* faces shall never be ashamed.
6 This poor soul cried, and was heard by the Lord,
and was saved from every trouble.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.
8 O taste and see that the Lord is good;
happy are those who take refuge in him.
9 O fear the Lord, you his holy ones,
for those who fear him have no want.
10 The young lions suffer want and hunger,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

11 Come, O children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 Which of you desires life,
and covets many days to enjoy good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil,
and your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Depart from evil, and do good;
seek peace, and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against evildoers,
to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
17 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears,
and rescues them from all their troubles.
18 The Lord is near to the broken-hearted,
and saves the crushed in spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord rescues them from them all.
20 He keeps all their bones;
not one of them will be broken.
21 Evil brings death to the wicked,
and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
22 The Lord redeems the life of his servants;
none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.
