We need a more modern version:
“The perfect should never become the enemy of the mediocre.”
:-)
I’m second to none in being a pro-life, anti-abortion person, but the first step in taking back this country and eventually making more progress on the social issues is WINNING this election. Losing to Dementia Joe and his radical leftist gang does no good for anyone. Allowing the left to destroy the country just so we can quixotically retain some kind of posture of moral purity is asinine. I agree with Trump that returning the abortion issue to the states is the politically opportune way to play this issue right now.
“Estote ergo prudentes sicut serpentes...”
What a despicable twisting of the truth. The subject of abortion has been returned to the states where there is a greater chance of limiting and eventually eliminate abortion. If they aren’t up to the job of fighting abortion on a state by state basis I say get out of the way and let the rest of us work to actually save lives by convincing our neighbors, then town and then state. They keep up demanding a national law we lose everything
Stop deluding yourself. I have no interest in what the Republican Party has allegedly “stood for.” Go back and look at the history of federal spending and spiraling debt under Democrat and Republican administrations over the last 50+ years, and you’ll see that the GOP has defined itself as a party of bloated budgets and unlimited growth of government. And you can add endless military campaigns all over the globe as its defining characteristic in my adult lifetime.
I’ve spent my whole life trying to stop the Democrats from turning the USA into a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah. Now we’re apparently letting a lifelong Democrat come in and strip out all our conservative principles from the Republican party platform.
And for what? He says he’s going to build a wall, and deport people? Well guess what, he already promised that once before.

Donald Trump promises ‘deportation force’ to remove 11 million. (2016)
Agree. But I call it Bullschtein.
We’re not voting for a bishop.
Are you sure that you’re on the right website?
The republican party passed Biden’s 2-3 trillion in pork barrel spending. Now if Trump manages to win, republicans will suddenly become budget hawks and won’t be able to find 10 billion for a wall to protect the country. People know the playbook too well.
A completely fabricated fib. And I’m being generous. Most importantly, completely removing the principle of debt reduction from the party platform means there’s no chance it ever even needs to be considered again. Something you are strangely in favor of, and vigorously defending. Hmmm.
Guy’s a TDS’tard.
Are you saying FR is no longer a “conservative” website? Because we are discussing the outrage that many pillars of conservatism (anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, reduced government debt and spending, etc) being removed from the Republican Party platform. Do you not care about those conservative principles?
THIS is exactly the kind of duplicitous malfeasance that made me stop giving a sh!t about the Republican Party or its platform.
Republicans just want to better manage the decline. I rarely vote for a republican at the Federal level these days, won’t play this red vs blue hat game when they’re actually the same. Think I saw where Amber Rose, of slut walk fame, is going be a speaker at the RNC, LOL. When does Caitlyn get up there? Maybe some principled conservative drag story hour? Yeah, no thanks.
I agree with you but I am beyond the Republican Party anyway. Whenever the RNC calls I hang up. I do not donate to them and I don’t care about them or the party. I don’t think Trump does either but that is the structure he has to run under.
The proof of this is that I haven’t even read the GOP 2024 national platform. I just respond to complaints about it by accepting them at face value.
Certainly appears that way. We’ve got a Republic circling the drain, courtesy of the fascists’, and he/she wants to splits hairs. There’s only one choice.... really.... and it ain’t the walking dead.
You’ve summed it up nicely.
Think about that, dude. Republican voters themselves got sick of the sanctimonious sh!t they were being sold by a political party that had no intention of ever following through on it when it mattered.
