The Vatican’s doctrine office will publish a new document next week on discerning Marian apparitions and other supernatural events.

The Holy See Press Office announced on Tuesday that Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, the prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF), will unveil new norms for discernment regarding “apparitions and other supernatural phenomena” on Friday, May 17.

In an interview with the National Catholic Register, CNA’s sister news partner, last month, Fernandez said that the document will provide “clear guidelines and norms” for discernment.

The new norms will be the first time that the Vatican’s doctrinal office has issued a general document on apparitions in four decades. Pope Paul VI approved norms on “the discernment of presumed apparitions or revelations” in 1978.

It's not enough that they incessantly post their juvenile and unscriptural Rapture threads; they have to ignorantly attack other Christians that they hate.

Leftist talking point.

Always accuse others who disagree with you of *hate*. When you can't counter the point, smear the messenger.

Show me in Scripture where it says that everything a Christian needs to believe is found in Scripture. Surely such a foundational doctrine would be explicitly found there. Don't bother with 2 Timothy 3:16 because it only says that Scripture is "useful" or "profitable," not sufficient.

I'll wait right here for that Scripture text.

Well, you've posted it....but not in context. Oh, and don't think the callous disregard of Scripture isn't noted.

*****

16All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 NASB 95

*****

Let's break it down.

Anything that is labeled or identified as Scripture is from God. That in itself should be enough to tell the RC, or anyone else, that anything outside of Scripture is NOT inspired nor from God. In other words, you can't build doctrine on it. That should give the Roman Catholic something to seriously consider; especially the Marian dogmas and the claimed "infallibility of the pope".

Scripture is good for

teaching: Cognate: 1319 didaskalía (a feminine noun derived from 1321 /didáskō, "teach") – properly applied-teaching; Christian doctrine (teaching) as it especially extends to its necessary lifestyle (applications). See 1321 (didaskō).

Cognate: 1650 élegxos (a masculine noun) – inner conviction focuses on God confirming His inbirthing of faith ("the internal persuasion from Him," see 4102 /pístis). See 1651 (elegxō).

correction: 1882 epanórthōsis (from 1909 /epí, "on, fitting" intensifying 461 /anorthóō, "make straight") – properly, suitable because straight, i.e. restored to its (original) proper condition; hence, correction (referring to something that is aptly "straightened out").

training: Cognate: 3809 paideía (from 3811 /paideúō, see there) – properly, instruction that trains someone to reach full development (maturity).

righteousness: 1343 dikaiosýnē (from 1349 /díkē, "a judicial verdict") – properly, judicial approval (the verdict of approval); in the NT, the approval of God ("divine approval").

1343 /dikaiosýnē ("divine approval") is the regular NT term used for righteousness ("God's judicial approval"). 1343 /dikaiosýnē ("the approval of God") refers to what is deemed right by the Lord (after His examination), i.e. what is approved in His eyes.

complete: 739 ártios (from 737 /árti, "now," viewed in terms of the present, i.e. "the here-and-now") – properly, ready now, prepared to function (efficiently) in the immediate present.

having been fully equipped: q1822 eksartízō (from 1537 /ek, "completely out from" intensifying artizō, "make suitable") – properly, fitted (because fully suitable) because all the parts work together. 1822 /eksartízō ("entirely outfitted") is used in the passive voice in 2 Tim 3:17, stressing the end-impact of Scripture on the receptive believer. Indeed the Bible thoroughly fits ("furnishes") each believer to live in full communion with God. (Note the intensifying force of the prefix, ek.)

*****

If you can understand this Paul is pointing Timothy to Scripture for a reason. It contains all that the man of God needs to know God, to instruct others and how to live for God.

To each one of the mysteries of Jesus she was to renew this Fiat that was so full of love, right up to the moment when, after having offered on Calvary for the salvation of the world this Jesus, this Son, this body she had formed, this blood that had been her own, she was able to say “All is consummated.”

And that is a bold face heresy.

Mary didn't offer Jesus on our behalf.

*****

“No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.” John 10:18 NASB 95

The Greek makes His statement emphatic that it is He Who is laying down His life. He has received this from the Father. NOT Mary. Mary plays absolutely no role in this. NONE.

It is His blood that was shed for us....not Mary's. There is no linkage here between the two.

She is not recorded as saying anything of the such as "all is consummated." It is yet another attempt of Rome to put Mary on the same level as Christ. For it was He who said, "it is finished." The Greek is Τετέλεσται.

The meaning is below.

Cognate: 5055 teléō (from 5056 /télos, "consummation, completion") – properly, to complete (consummate), i.e. finish (qualitatively) the necessary process – with the results "rolling-over" to the next level (phase) of consummation. See 5056 (telos).

To say otherwise is a contradiction of Scripture....something Rome seemingly has zero problem in doing...to their detriment.

Whenever you decide to stick to the subject at hand we can converse.

I always do. But I refuse to converse about the Bible or disagreements about Christian teaching if the premise of the conversation is the "Bible Alone." Since it is a doctrine that is not found in Scripture (and doesn't even make logical sense), it would be foolish and counterproductive to do so.

Nope, I live by this saying. It is you who show no evidence of reading and living the Scriptures by your invariably nasty and pugnacious attitude in every one of your replies. "By their fruits you shall know them." (Matthew 7:16)

Nasty and pugnacious?? My, my....

In these discussions it's usually, though not always, the Roman Catholic who first resorts to the personal attack and/or profanity when the argument goes against them....which is quite often.

It sure doesn’t say that the Bereans rushed out to find Peter to ask his opinion of what Paul was teaching.

Nor did they seek out "tradition"....nor Mary.

Alexander Hilsop and Jack Chick live on. A Sunday would not be complete around here without a good old-fashioned anti-Catholic thread to close it out. It's not enough that they incessantly post their juvenile and unscriptural Rapture threads; they have to ignorantly attack other Christians that they hate.

Talk about pugnacious!!

Note: IF your Church doesn’t believe in the Bible, doesn’t promote the Bible OR says the Bible is okay but we have more that additional stuff to explain why our Church doesn’t conform to the Bible, beware! If your Church says the Bible is not complete or not sufficient, beware! If they make the argument it doesn’t say every thing isn’t in the Bible but our denomination is special and we have some extra goodies, beware!

Elsie knows I no longer respond to her posts because she/he has proven her/himself to be insincere and false. I am always open to a charitable conversation with a fellow Christian, but I don’t waste my time with hostile people that are dishonest in their character. See tagline.

I have found that weak Catholics eventually become Protestant.

And good, God-fearing Protestants eventually become Catholic.

Recall....it was you who first levied the charges of nasty and pugnacious.

And I'll take the pugnacious one every day (expressing an argument or opinion very forcefully)....especially when it comes to defending the Gospel.

If you think the conversation on this thread has been nasty then I suggest, as I have to other roman catholics who cannot defend their positions in an open forum, to head for the caucus threads. There you can be in a echo chamber with your fellow RCs....but be prepared for even more intense arguments...and nasty ones as well.

Fidelis...if you can't handle Elsie's commentary....then head for the caucus thread for Roman Catholics.
