It looks like too many people have forgotten the devastation that pandemics and epidemics have wreaked in the past.
Having a coordinated international response to outbreaks is our best defense against pandemics. An outbreak that is stopped early never gets the chance to grow into a pandemic. Historically, pandemics have killed tens of millions of people. A third of the population of Europe died off during the Plague. Throughout history, infectious diseases have always been the largest killer.
I suspect that those who are inventing and spreading these nefarious conspiracy theories have much the same goals as those who originally started antivax propaganda back in the early 1800s. They want more people to die from infectious diseases. In the 1800s, the antivaxxers believed that stopping people from dying young from infectious disease went against the will of God. Today, they believe that dying early helps to relieve overpopulation. Whatever the motive, the goal is the same: to kill off people.
