Prayer Needed

Hi All:

I am not the type of person to post much about my personal life…except with one exception… that is when it concerns decisions regarding my health and the health of family and/or friends.

I am a HUGE proponent of prayer… I have seen it move mountains when it looked as if there was no path for deliverance… As such, here goes a request concerning the continuing saga of my right eye….

I will likely need surgery to correct the vision in my right eye (vitrectomy & ERM peel) to address a macular pucker (scar tissue on the retina) and cystoid macular edema (swelling of the retina)… Currently my eyesight in that eye is a “bad” 20/40 and slowly declining (was 20/30).

The surgery to correct it is not extensive… likely done in 30 minutes… and usually ends with positive results for most (80% improve, 15% stay the same, but stops decline). However, there are possible complications that can arise (the remaining 5%)… that can lead to some possibly bad results or further surgery…

So please pray unceasingly for proper discernment, being led to the proper diagnosis, treatment and retina specialist(s)... and for complete healing...

Please also pray for me to have patience and strength to handle whatever may come…

I know we serve a big God… and if it is His will to move these mountains (or scar tissue and swelling in my case) it will be done and I will be grateful…

The good news is the left eye is seeing 20/15 or 20/20 again… praise be to God!

I have had lots of eye issues myself, so I understand the fear that comes up when vision is at stake.

I love how you asked for discernment, and also for strength and patience with what happens.

With any prayer request, I also ask for the person to have the serenity to accept God’s will, whatever it is. Because his ways are not our ways, and we don’t know what he has in store for our life.

Had cataract surgery on both eyes four years ago... It was one of the best moves I ever did... always wore glasses for distance... since I was 9...

Had 20/60 or 20/70 in both eyes before the surgery.

Now I see 20/20 out of left eye... and 20/40 out of right (was a good 20/30 before the issues I have now)...

It was like being born into a HD world...

Do not hesitate in doing the surgery.

Prayers up! There have been so many advancements in eye surgery. I had both my eyes taken care of for cataracts two years ago. I was led to the best doctor in the nearest big city. I was terrified, never asked for prayers but when it’s your eyes, well it was scary. Both came through with out a hitch and I am so grateful. Don’t have fear have faith. Prayers will guide their hands.

I’m sure it is no easy thing to lend your eye to a surgeon’s work. You’ve had eye surgery before, but this is a whole new kind. Prayers up for you and your med team and your good health all around.
