Man who lives in remote Kentucky among strict Amish and Mennonites reveals what the isolated communities are REALLY like - from living without electricity and cellphones to hidden 'abuse' behind closed doors

A man who lives in remote Kentucky among strict Amish and Mennonites has revealed what their isolated communities are really like - from living without electricity, internet, and cellphones to driving around in horse and buggies.

For his whole life, Steven Haste has resided in a community in Casey County, Kentucky, that is made up prominently of Amish and Mennonite people - two religious groups who believe in living a traditionalist lifestyle.

And while he doesn't consider himself Amish or Mennonite and doesn't follow their firm rules, he recently opened up about why he prefers to spend his time with them rather than the outside world.

While chatting with popular YouTuber Peter Santenello for a video, Steven explained that living among the Amish and Mennonites is extremely 'humbling.'

He explained that while he isn't a fan of all of their regulations, he loves their simple way of life and strong sense of community.

'I love it. These people are my best friends. I've been around them my whole life,' he explained. 'I was raised right here. I'm so used to it, I'm with them everyday.

'They're my friends. I don't feel comfortable without them to be honest with you. It's such a humbling place to live.'

According to Steven, Amish and Mennonite people are extremely 'helpful' and will come together to assist anyone in the neighborhood.

He recalled one time that a tornado destroyed the roof of his barn, and everyone he knew came to help repair it.

'They help you, they'll do anything for you,' he continued. 'We all gather and help each other. That's how it works around here.'

While God gave man dominion over animals, that is NEVER an excuse to mistreat or abuse them. And Christians, above all, should never need to be told this.

There are places in the OT where God even gives instructions on how to treat some animals.

I once saw a young couple in Lancaster county, PA sweeping their limestone driveway with a leaf rake and a push broom to remove the buggy wheel marks before Sunday.

On the other end of the spectrum is the A Highway Amish near Seymour, MO. It would be hard to find more filthy cesspool of living like animals in the USA, complete with incest, etc. They are not allowed to have modern siding or lawn mowers. Their properties are trash heaps and look mostly abandoned.

In the large Amish communities, everything is neat and tidy because of intense peer pressure. In the outlying communities, not so much. The places can get pretty trashy.

(I’ve been in every major Amish community in the USA except one, and in tons of outliers, all the way to NW Montana and SW Colorado.)

Speaking of hypocrisy, the love to protect their gay rapist priests of which there are tens of thousands of them.

Here’s a sliver of it in just Georgia - and it’s only the ones who got caught over 30 years ago.

https://mersonlaw.com/georgia-catholic-diocese-priest-sex-abuse-list/

Just earlier this year, Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia (PAC) provided a detailed 267 page report on these child abusers.

The PDF of the report can be found at the link below.
Words don’t even begin to describe how horrific it is.

But you get silence from the usual suspects if you dare point these truths out.

“Speaking of hypocrisy, the love to protect their gay rapist priests of which there are tens of thousands of them.”

It would almost appear to me that certain posters seem to be making more of a stand against non catholics than they do about sin. ;>)

In other words, they tend to dismiss Romans 3:23

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

while neglecting to call out those who promote doctrines of devils:

1 Timothy 4:2-3
King James Version

2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

...but I digress

I’m not bitter. Its a cult. Why are you having to work so hard to defend them. Ask yourself that.

Then there's the continuation....

1 Timothy 4:4-5 For everything created by God is good and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.

Amen! For those who by Faith alone believe the following...

2 Timothy 3:16
King James Version

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

....yet, some choose to place their faith instead in doctrines of devils.

If they had Faith in the True Word of God, they would not have allowed themselves to be taken into these priests “secret chambers”

Secret chambers for “secret discussions” right?

and some how there doesn’t ever seem to be any outcry that the “tithing” funds are used to pay off and silence its victims.

But hey, look at all these news articles about protestants...

It’s going to be a very interesting spectacle at the Great White Throne Judgement.

Some are more concerned about protecting their building or organization than innocent lives.

1. I never accused you of being bitter. Why are you defending yourself against something I never accused you of. Weird…

2. The accusation of being a cult is a heavy accusation. As a blanket accusation against the Amish, it is unfair and incorrect. However, many do operate as a cult, so it’s fair to say some of them are a cult.

3. Me? Working hard to defend them? Bwahahaha! I am known in my circles for publicly calling out the Amish and Mennonites for their sins and abuses. My friends would scoff if they read your accusation. Even in this very thread I have made some pretty harsh accusations against the Amish. It’s simply bizarre that you accuse me of working hard to defend them.

Now, I will defend them against scurrilous charges promulgated by mentally ill, deranged animal rights wackos. And I will defend them against false charges laid by self-styled experts on the Amish. Neither of these defenses are about defending the Amish, but are about pushing back on the sick animal rights wackos, and about standing up for truth.

BTW, I am used to this kind of response from self-styled Amish experts when I point out their errors. They seem to get a sense of self worth on being the “expert” in the room, yet are usually fulla sh**. When I point out they are fulla sh**, they lose their sh**. I’m used to it, and it makes me laugh. Not sure if you’re the type, but there’s hints of this in your weird response.

Have a nice day.

It is very telling that you ignored my reply and went straight to propaganda BS from mentally ill animal rights wackos.

I popped your little “Amish expert” bubble and you’re mad about it. Bwahahaha!
