!SURPRISING SALVATIONS! THE ETHIOPIAN
|
ACTS 8 HOW THE ETHIOPIAN’S SALVATION WAS SURPRISING: 1. SOMEHOW, THIS GENTILE NOT ONLY WAS INTERESTED IN THE BIBLE BUT ALSO WAS READING THE CRUCIAL CRUCIFIXION PASSAGE IN ISAIAH 53—Obviously, God was actively leading him along.
2. GOD WANTED A STRONG BELIEVER TO STEP IN NOW AND HELP THIS GENTILE OVER THE FINISH LINE—and Philip, with his demonstrated gift for evangelism, was just the man.
3. HOW ASTONISHED BOTH OF THEM MUST HAVE BEEN—to realize what God had superintended!
4. AND SO PHILIP EXPLAINED, THE ETHIOPIAN BELIEVED—and, O look! God had even provided water for baptism.
1 PHILIP GALLE "An Angel Appears to St Philip" So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the book of Isaiah the prophet. The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.”
Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked. “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. The eunuch was reading this passage of Scripture:
“He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before the shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth. In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.”* The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” THEN PHILIP BEGAN WITH THAT VERY PASSAGE OF SCRIPTURE AND TOLD HIM THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT JESUS.

12 W H SULLIVAN "St Philip Preaching to the Eunuch" As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. Why shouldn’t I be baptized?” And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.

Nice collection. I kept looking for a picture of a drenched Eunuch being baptized “the old-fashioned way.”

There is a church in Ethiopia whose caretakers claim to have it.
OTOH, some of us know that it’s in a bunker, deep beneath the Nevada desert, being studied (or not) by Top Men.

Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion:
They claim to have the Ark in this, the Chapel of the Tablet, which was built specifically to house it. There's a much larger church building where they offer the Divine Liturgy.

This is one of the reasons, among others, that I believe the Ark of the Covenant to be hidden in Ethiopia............. So much is hidden in Ethiopia!
Anagrams for: Ethiopia
There's always more, though, because the rearrangement servant doesn't often serve acronyms or foreign words/terms that slip into English by transliteration.
Sometimes single letters can work into a context, but the server wouldn't know how to do that. It just does what it's programmed to do.
As you can see from the list, some Greek letters show up: Pi, Eta, Iota.
But not Hebrew letters like hei, or pei. But if you know that these words are out there, you can expand upon the results.
For example, one of the results is IOTA HE PI.
Two Greek letters in there, but there's no real meaning in the whole combination.
From the inspiration of "letters" though, it's easy to pull up a list in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin:
ETHIOPIA --->
HEI IOTA P
Proving that with a little honest creativity, anyone can become a whizz kid from just a small amount of information.
"GOD SENDS PHILIP TO HELP THE ETHIOPIAN"
That was a good idea, because as a foreigner, he wouldn't have been able to read the signs.
"O look! God had even provided water for baptism."
(I'll see myself out...)
