There are some beauties, especially the stained glass windows. Thank you, Dan!
Beautiful, and praise Lord Jesus Christ!
Unless we’re Jewish, this tells our story.
Amen!
Acts 11:1
And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.
Acts 11:18
When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
Acts 13:42
And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
#20 ... Did Peter see the ‘roo and the walrus, and wonder “whatever are those???” ...
As Jesus observed, the fields were ripe for harvesting.
Christianity spread thru the Roman Empire like a wildfire.
By the time Paul got to Rome, it had already made it to the Emperor’s household..........
Thank you for posting these. I’m going to go back and re-read the account of Cornelius.
LOL
We continue discovering “new” species....
To me, the remarkable part of that story is not the Gentiles’ salvation; rather, it is the Jewish believers’ surprise. Salvation is “by grace through faith”, as Paul would codify later—circumcision is not involved.
"There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian [band]"
So I'd go as far as to say that he was on a mission from God.
‘Twas certainly a divine appointment.
The surprise was that Gentiles didn’t have to become Jews to be saved. Paul rebuked this kind of thinking in Peter.
I agree. But I suspect many Jews were more simplistic, and jingoistic: if you weren’t born Jewish.... That kind of tribal exclusivity is just human nature.
painting #1 and glass #2 and #8
are absolutely beautiful
