But we celebrate Vespers on Saturday!!

In the Orthodox Holy Saturday service, we read that Christ kept and fulfilled the Sabbath day in his rest in the tomb. The law of the Sabbath has thus been fulfilled, and we have no need to do so.

In the Antiochian Orthodox Christian liturgy for Great and Glorious Pascha the Paschal Orthros Synaxarion states that Jesus rose after the Sabbath and that "the early Christians transferred the dignity of the sabbath to this day by calling it Kyriake (the day of the Lord)"
