It's not sola scriptura. It's not sola fide. It's a doctrine most people don't even know by name.

It’d be better to heed the beware of false Christ’s warnings

The Good Friday Christ is false

The Passover Lamb Christ is Truth, in accordance with the scriptures.

This thread is a slugfest. I'm shocked! /s

Just another hostile day in the world of the most devoted disciples of Establishment Jesus, with everyone determined to defend his 'faith' all the way off the edge of a cliff.

The way of peace, big mystery! Totally elusive!

Now in the view from above over Paradox-ville, this can only indicate one thing:

The true Jewish Redeemer must be Irish!

The Maverick solution to business -- keeping busy milking his cow, tending his sheep, mowing his lawn, causing the blind to see, and healing the sick. All with a spring in his step and twinkle in his eye: 😉

Talk about a character and lineage that's right on the money for the atonement of souls. Top Gun. Five stars.

Genesis 25:22 And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.

It's like the place of the blessing (L'Chaim!) -- the bar in Boston named Cheers -- why ask for a name because it's the place "Where everybody knows your name."

Psalms 133

1 A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Yet people continue the wrestle with simple mysteries of life.

Do the verses you reference describe Sheol as a kind of cleansing punishment like Purgatory?

Look at Isaiah 14 and the 3 references to Sheol (verses 9, 11, & 15) within 7 verses. This IMHO is the best description of Sheol because the word is used repetitively within a handful of verses (not one-offs like we usually see the Hebrew word "sheh-ole'"). Clearly in Isaiah 14 God is addressing Satan through the prophet Isaiah, telling Satan that he will wind up in Sheol. Is Satan to be cleansed so he can go to Heaven? Not according to Revelation. Isaiah 14, therefore, tells us Sheol is not a stepping stone or sanctifying step to Heaven.

Isaiah 38:18 says: “For Sheol cannot praise or thank You, Death cannot praise You and rejoice in You; Those who go down to the pit cannot hope for Your faithfulness." Doesn't sound to me like Sheol has a cleansing escape hatch to Heaven.

But again, this is predicated on us using Old Testament scripture to define the afterlife (a common RCC argument for Maccabean reference to Purgatory). If we believe there's a Purgatory because two verses in 2nd Maccabees 12 say so, then we have to also believe even more that there's an inescapable Sheol that the prophet Samuel himself went to.

“Then why are there 20,000+ different versions of protestant understanding of the Bible?”

There aren’t. That is a lie pushed by Catholics.

“In my opinion, many are rejecting Jesus some of His Truth and jeopardizing their salvation “

Of course you feel that way, you came here to pick a fight.
I find many Catholic beliefs odd and un Biblical, but I don’t post threads on them to stoke fights and cause division .
Big picture, Catholics and Protestants are all brothers and sisters in Christ.

Satan and world want to stoke this division .

Especially in light of the number of interpretations of Catholicism I have encountered in my life among the laity. I was raised Catholic in a very heavily Catholic community and virtually every Catholic I have ever met holds to whatever beliefs of the Catholic religion teaches that they like and rejects the ones they don’t.

This unity of doctrine being superior means nothing when the doctrine is neither true (cannot be supported by Scripture) nor followed by those who claim fidelity to Catholicism.

And a more superstitious lot of people hardly exists than Catholics.

All one has to do for the most egregious examples is look at the syncretism of local pagan religions with Catholicism in places like the Philippines and Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and a host of South American countries.

Not to mention all the stuff American Catholics engage in like horoscopes, Ouija boards, rabbits feet, and flat our weird teaching about Catholic doctrine. Did you know that Jesus as a baby never cried? That’s because Jesus was perfect and the perfect baby would never cry.

Wonder where that’s found i Scripture or the Catechism?

I lived in the Philippines. Most of the Catholics there believed the trees and animals had spirits that needed to be appeased.

Who were her other children?

Jesus' brothers James and Joseph, and Simon and Judas, and his unnamed sisters (Matt. 13:55-56).

Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brothers, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us?
Matt. 13:55-56.

In answers to your questions in #162……………

Yes, it is that easy. For it is NOTHING that we sinners can do to earn our way to heaven. It is a gift of Grace from our loving God.

Yes, we do confess our sins (directly to Jesus) and because we are sorry, we repent. The Bible does teach us to repent (Acts 11:18; Acts 20:21: Luke 15:7). To repent means to have a change of mind or a change in attitude toward our sins.

The Bible is clear that God alone can forgive sins (Mark 2:7; Luke 5:21), and Christ, being God, has the power to do so, but He never communicated any such power to His apostles, nor did they ever assume any such power to themselves or pretend to exercise it. In fact, it is the mark of antichrist to attempt anything of the kind because, in doing so, one usurps the divine prerogative and places himself in God’s seat. Because of Grace, believers in Christ can confidently declare that all their sins are forgiven for Christ’s sake and to His glory.

The Bible does not say we have to “do penance”. We can do no penance worthy of God’s consideration, that is why Jesus had to pay the price for us.

Your Roman Catholic Church loves to tell us how we need them to tell us what God’s WORD clearly tells us in the Bible. They want to think they were commissioned by Jesus, though clearly the believers that formed the first churches were not Roman Catholic. And they tell us we have to eat His Body and drink His Blood, though the Bible forbids drinking of blood. Holy communion is an act of REMEMBRANCE of Jesus that we share with others in our worship service.

Of course I believe works are important. As a follower of Jesus I try to obey his teachings to love others and to serve Him by serving others with good works. But all my “good works, as important as they may be, will never be good enough to earn forgiveness (atonement for my sins). If we could work our way to heaven, we would not need Jesus, and his great sacrifice would have no meaning. It is not about what you or I do….. it is all about what God is doing!

You asked, “do you not believe that Jesus established the Catholic Church, the Mass and the Sacraments to help us in the journey to reach salvation with God?” Men established the Roman Catholic Church, and your church may indeed be leading some to Christ, but the fact remains that they are leading many astray as well. I cannot judge you, but personally I feel you do love God and believe in Jesus. Yet you are wrong in thinking that membership in the RC church is a requirement for salvation. When the Bible speaks of “the Church”, it means ALL BELIEVERS, the Bride of Christ, who Jesus will return some day (hopefully soon) to take to heaven to live with Him forever.

I sincerely thank you for your prayers, and will in turn pray for you, my FRiend. I assure you that I have read the Catholic Catechism, I was once engaged to a RC and attended mass many times. But I always felt there was a barrier between me and the Lord there, and the more I studied it, the more I came to understand why that barrier was there. I have long since found a very personal relationship with my Holy Father, worship Him with my family and a community of believers in a conservative Bible-centered PCA Presbyterian Church, and in a nut-shell my main purpose in life is to glorify God, and to thus to enjoy Him forever.

The idea of the trinity upsets Muslems too. (REALLY upsets them... to the point of bombing people). They believe that Christians worship multiple gods.

Your comment: “Satan and world want to stoke this division .”

He already has when Christians can not defend their belief in Christ and sometimes follow false beliefs.

We can either follow Christ’s Truths or our own. Not both.

Christ came not for peace but for division. Luke 12:51

We should be able to discuss issues or differences in a friendly manner.

If you find Catholic faith odd and unbiblical, then you may not understand Catholic beliefs or are listening to others that are misrepresenting God’s Truth.

Give me a couple examples and I will respond.
