All of Tissot. Thank you, Dan.
Ol’ James Jacques Joseph Tissot certainly invested himself in portraying every aspect of this most monumental of events, along with its immediate aftermath.
Well this is the big one so to speak. Central point in human existence.
Good Morning, Dan.
Yes, indeed—well noted. The Pivot Point of pivot points. All of history and of the Bible led up to it, and everything since depends upon it.
Thanks for being you, Mary-Lou.
I think the work I like the most is the raising of the cross. This is the first of the 3 raisings of the Son of Man. Resurrection and the Ascension being the others. The raising of the cross is paralleled by the raising of the bronze serpent and the arms of Moses.
Intriguing perspective, xp!
Maybe parallel is the wrong term. Perhaps the literary one of foreshadowing is better.
Morning Dan,,
.
Bruised for Our Sin...
Was about to ping you to come and see Dismas.
Jesus was big on that, in pointing out how He fulfilled Old Testament prophecies and types. That's one of the fun things about the Bible which people miss out on who have never read all the way through, but which you can appreciate.
Good Morning Dan, and happy weekend to each gallery visitor.
A treasure trove of great art indeed. I’ve found so many ‘favorites’ that I can’t easily list them. And as you said, Tissot is well represented among them. #47 Tissot shows the sky becoming dark, as the crowd begins to feel fear...
Thank You Dan!
#49 is fascinating...
Reminiscent of Michelangelos
Creation.
.
The First Adam...
An item is only worth what someone is Willing to Pay for it.
God Payed with His Son.
We’re in the homestretch now, Leon.
One must assume that was the artist’s intent.
#49 - Jesus reaching out to a sinner, showing forgiveness, showing love. There’s hope for all of us, the invitation is always there.
