Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem
Mark 1
Jesus Heals Many
29 As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. 30 Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her. 31 So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them.
32 That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed. 33 The whole town gathered at the door, 34 and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem
Almighty Father,
Who Art in Heaven,
How Blessed and Holy is Your Wonderful Name!
You Alone Are Worthy To be Praised and Worshiped,
For You Alone Are The One True God!
You Are The Beginning and the End,
The First and the Last,
Almighty,
Eternal,
All-Knowing and All-Seeing.
You Know the End from the Beginning and the Beginning From the End.
We, Your people, The Sheep of Your Pasture, are Finite,
small, and have no understanding of You,
except what You have given us in Your Holy Word.
We are overwhelmed with gratitude that You,
in Your Infinite Mercy,
have chosen to Grace us with this Glimpse into Your Heart!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Psalm 32
Of David. A Maskil.
1 Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered.
2 Happy are those to whom the Lord imputes no iniquity,
and in whose spirit there is no deceit.
3 While I kept silence, my body wasted away
through my groaning all day long.
4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;
my strength was dried up* as by the heat of summer.
Selah
5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not hide my iniquity;
I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord’,
and you forgave the guilt of my sin.
Selah
6 Therefore let all who are faithful
offer prayer to you;
at a time of distress,* the rush of mighty waters
shall not reach them.
7 You are a hiding-place for me;
you preserve me from trouble;
you surround me with glad cries of deliverance.
Selah
8 I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
9 Do not be like a horse or a mule, without understanding,
whose temper must be curbed with bit and bridle,
else it will not stay near you.
10 Many are the torments of the wicked,
but steadfast love surrounds those who trust in the Lord.
11 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, O righteous,
and shout for joy, all you upright in heart.

In 1984, when I visited Capernaum, there were no "facilities". The bus let us off and we wandered around what was essentially a raw archaeological dig. The ancient synagogue had little signs on it to guide us around, and there were lots of old foundations being unearthed. One of them was a series of foundations, one set inside another like nesting boxes. The outer foundation was larger, as if it had been a meeting hall of some kind. The foundation in the center was quite small, like a little dwelling made of rocks (a building material that is VERY abundant in Israel!) There was a sign on a stick that read:
"ST. PETER'S HOUSE"
The sign went on to explain that the center structure had been the actual fisherman's hut, and, as more people began to meet there, subsequent structures were built to accommodate them. The final outer foundation was probably that of an ancient church, erected on that very site. It was amazing, but I really needed to use the nonexistent "facilities". I was directed to a foul little outhouse out in the middle of the field, amid the sheep that were grazing there. It was perhaps the very worst "facility" I have ever had to use in my entire life, and somewhat marred my visit to Capernaum.
I recently looked at a photo of the site, and there is a beautiful new Visitor's Center erected there. I am glad that the Israeli Ministry of Tourism finally got the message. There are some exqusite treasures in Capernaum, but nobody seemed to know or care about them for a long time.
When Jesus visited that town two millennia ago, He was just beginning His Ministry. It would derail His whole Mission if His Identity was revealed too soon. The demons knew this, and tried to disrupt everything by declaring Jesus's Messiahship.
Just this past year, somebody, we still don't know who, leaked that the Supreme Court was going to repeal Roe vs. Wade. This caused a big backlash among pro-abortion groups, and there was much "Pearl-Clutching" and dire pronouncements of doom in the media. Nevertheless, the repeal went through, the decision about abortion was handed back to the States, and life goes on. The leaker has not been identified, but it is speculated that he (or she) spilled the beans in order to derail the Supreme Court's decision. It didn't work.
Neither did it work when demons tried to derail Jesus by revealing His Identity too soon. Jesus was totally in control of the situation, and ordered the demons to be quiet. Sometimes a premature revelation, a leak, or a scandal can cause us to panic. But Jesus is NEVER "surprised" by anything. He knows the beginning and the end of all things. We can trust Him and HIS Timing.
