ON THE WATER? |
Peter’s walk on the water is a really a parable of how Christians are a lot of times.
At first they are gung-ho and very full of the faith and spirit, then as time goes by, they are buffeted by the cares and turmoil of this world, their faith falters and they begin to sink back into their old ways.........................
Well said, Red. Thank you, sir.
But you stopped short, didn’t you? Do you want to finish it, or shall I?
Saved by Jesus!.................
"Being confident of this, that He Who began a good work in youPhilippians 1:6
will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
A wonderful #1 by Brent Borup, another Christian artist from Idaho.
Stunning stained glass windows!
Rane, Weistling, Brion, beautiful.
Finally, # 39 by the Korean artist Yongsung Kim. Symbolic of Christ being always there to save us from spiritual death.
As the artist described, at age 20 he had a dream with God asking him what he was going to do with the gift he had given him. From then on, he felt compelled to paint images of Christ. Much feelings and emotions in his work.
So many excellent paintings this morning, Dan. It’s hard to find a favorite. But if I must, I’d say I liked #39 -
YONGSUNG KIM - “The Hand of God”
Jesus had a smile on His face as He rescued His friend, the impetuous Peter.
It reminded me of when my oldest son at age 3 ran full speed towards the deep end of the resort swimming pool, jumped in, then realized he didn’t know how to swim.
The lifeguard stood there a moment before rescuing him and said, “I’m going to let him think about his actions firs”.
I am with both of you in my admiration of Kim’s masterpiece. It is so imaginative! A Peter’s eye-view from under the water....One of my three favorite paintings.
The other two I liked were:
19
MORGAN WEISTLING
“Jesus Christ Walking on Water”
(Peter flailing as the others watch)
26
NORBERT McNULTY
“Jesus Walking on the Water”
(Jesus and Peter are in a patch of calm water
The others are holding on for dear life in the boat)
Good Morning Dan, and a blessed day to all.
We all can relate to this story! Indeed our King reached out to each of us!
Think back... where would you be today, if He had not?
#1 Borup
#37 Hunter
#39 Kim
Thank You Dan =:^)
Fine choices, Debbie. Thanks for drawing our attention to them.
“Jesus had a smile on His face”
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Good observation; no anger, no reproof; we see His grace -
Nailed it. Thanks, Leon.
Just beautiful!
Docent etabeta, thank you again, as you lead us thru the gallery. Didn’t know where Borup is from (bet he has a great story), and Kim also; he has great talent indeed.
Was mine too. Quite a unique viewpoint.
I imagine Peter’s friends in the boat all chanting “look at Pete go. Woot woot woot!” Before he sunk. Musta been astonishing for them to see him step out of the boat and walk on water too.
So glad you approve!
Abraham Hunter’s look striking. Thanks
Good Morning, Dan. :-)
