Malach1 3:9b-10
Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.
Queen of John; maybe.
Not to worry, for he doesn’t have to answer to you - but to GOD.
Why?
Is recess over??
“Satanic, because the image of Jesus in it is beautiful, whereas Isaiah (Scripture) tells us “he had no form nor comeliness, that we should desire him”.”
What part don’t you understand?
4 “You shall not make for yourself [c]an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
23But a time is coming, and even now has arrived, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh,
and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
“Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man.
so that you do not act corruptly and make a graven image for yourselves in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female,
You shall not make for yourselves idols, nor shall you set up for yourselves an image or a sacred pillar, nor shall you place a figured stone in your land to bow down to it; for I am the LORD your God.
Why?
Is recess over??
Excellent point!
So will you.
“Queen of John; maybe.”
LOL, 1st, or 4th kind of close...
Queen of Augustine, maybe.
“So will you.”
And we cannot wait to meet our Lord Jesus in the air! We do not look forward to the great white throne judgement not because of our condemnation, but since many of you will be over with the goats we do mourn. So, we continue to preach the truth according to GOD’s Word and not tradition or man’s sinful lust.
We will stand with our Lord Jesus, and He will say well done faithful servant you preached My Word to them, their blood be on their heads and their children’s heads and so it shall be!
And you start rabidly posting random verses including
and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
Do you think that picture looks like a cockroach or an iguana?
And as far as the quote
"Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man."
you ought to realize that the nun who first started this, said Jesus appeared to her in person and ordered her to make the painting; and was quite specific in the appearance.
I'm waiting to see what kind of mindless, spittle-filled paroxysm you're going to have about how unScriptural the quote "Jesus, I trust in You" is.
Here's the original quote from the original poster.
Post #296 this thread, bolding was in that original post:
I'm not a "Catholic hater". I hate Catholicism, with cause.
Nothing to do with your slanderous insinuation that I'm queer.
My GOD tells me to hate what is evil and love what is good. I have been in your place and feel for your pain and loss, but only the truth can set you free.
No you haven't. I don't have the pain and loss you're talking about.
The truth HAS set me free: but you are too wedded to your sectarian bigotry and hatred, even to look.
Funny, that the very verse that pertains to this discussion is the very verse that was spoken to you nearly 2,000 years ago and you still do NOT get it!
I wasn't around 2,000 years ago, so it wasn't spoken to me 2,000 years ago. Unless you engaging with sophistry, which Sola Scriptura people tend to do in their own favor while disallowing anything that just resembles it, to anyone else.
Romans 12:9
Let love be without dissimulation. Hating that which is evil, cleaving to that which is good.
This entire post of yours has been dissimulation.
Yup; and no doubt I’ll be standing in a crowd of publicans.
Don’t diss them goats!!
Isaiah 11:6 niv
The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling together;
and a little child will lead them.
Why do you cut off the wording where you pronounce your dependance upon Mary as well?
Why do you hate Mary so?
You should just read the stuff some FR folks have managed to post about my chosen screenname!
Why it makes pearl shaped depressions in my fingers and hands!!
I think this might be the problem as we Prots see it.
Anything that old can be ignored.
But the Book that Rome assembled, nearly 2,000 years ago, states:
Romans 15:4
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.2 Thessalonians 3:6
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.2 Timothy 3:16-17
16. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
17. so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Popular Protestant YouTube host announces decision to convert to CatholicismTake it in context, troll boi. |
Just to yank the other poster's chain.
And your accusation is further without merit, because Protties deride the Catholics for quoting the successors to the Apostles from the 200s, which is approximately the same age; not realizing that this undercuts your argument that Catholics ignore anything old.
Incidentally; did you notice 2 Thessalonians 3:6, establishes the idea of Church authorities having a valid teaching role? You know, your trusty and well-beloved phrase "Biblical Principles".
The difference is that the Catholics acknowledge such a teaching role to authorities in the Church (notice the little stamp nihil obstat in the beginning of Catholic books, it has been reviewed and found to be free of doctrinal error); whereas the Protestants allow virtually anyone to teach, and as long as they call it "Biblical Principles"™ it's all good.
The problem is how do you know the person isn't just getting carried away by his own ego; misquoting (as Lucifer tried with Jesus); putting too much stress on one verse to the exclusion of others; etc. etc.
Try reading some of the biographies and autobiographies of the Saints. You will be astounded at the deep intense personal relationship with Jesus they have. And the greatest characteristic of the Saints which I have read, is humility: submission to authority, rather than making themselves the authority, and no empire building.
You do realize the faith and death-to-self involved in making a vow of chastity and/or poverty, and forgoing for life, worldly pursuits, don't you? But that is far different than the slavish devotion to salvation by works and mindless devotion to mumbled prayers to saints taught by rote, which is the Protestant stereotype; which I thought Catholicism was myself, before converting.
The other cultural difference is that the Catholics conceive of the Church as a corporate entity (corporate as in corpus, body, not as in corporation, business) -- parishes look out for one another if invited, I've been in Catholic churches in two different states who invite persecuted Christians in the Middle East / Holy Land (they used to be 13% of the population, now are 2%) to show up and give a message at their service, and to sell carvings (the Last Supper, The Manger Scene, Madonna and Child, etc.) of olive wood, to help support themselves, and to ask for prayers for help with persecution. I never saw any Protestant Church I attended ever do that.
The other poster actually said that the only person besides me accusing disputants of hate, were homosexuals recoiling from accusations of their own sin. The difference is that I was literally quoting a poster from this thread, not lashing out.
